Don't want cars with headers, or different exhausts (eismann, etc).

Just looking to hear a car in person that has the resonators removed on their 55k.

I have a SL55 AMG and contemplating doing this, but;

I just want it to be a bit louder when you get on it, and a touch louder when even accelerating slowly.

I want ZERO DRONE when at cruising/coasting speed. and I don't want the overall sound to sound like a catless mustang or corvette/camaro.

Based on what I said, would I be happy with removing the 2 big resonators?

and if anyones local shoot me a PM!

FYI I am located 07059 zip

I just did this on my E55 for a week and then upgraded my axel back too. You will hear a noticable difference if you go 3" instead of the resonator. All it did was your exhaust you have now, but a tad bit louder. There was no drone or anything you describe at all. The exhaust gets ever so slightly more muscular and louder.

A passenger would not notice the difference but since it is your own car and you have alot of seat time, you will notice the slight change in exhaust tone. Go for it, you will like it man.

i had nor resonator and no secondary cats and it sounded good. a friend of mine has an 03 SL55 and he took out just the resonator.....car sounds good. has just a bit more growl then stock. i have heard several exhaust systems and the stock amg mufflers are my favorite with no secondary cats, no cats, no res

it will be hard to tell the difference. the resonator has a x over built into it, so just make sure you want to get rid of it.

I love how my exhaust sounds now. Only things i left were the primary Cats and stock mufflers, everything between is 3" piping and X-pipe.
Really makes our cars sound super aggressive!!!

The E63 has a high compression motor so doing the same exhaust work that you did will not yeild the same results on a e55 due to lower compression.

I just deleted my resonator and put in two straight pipes (2.5"). Sounds like I wanted it to. My fiance didn't notice it, but I can tell the difference. Just a little more growl. Both at startup and on acceleration.

Great mod for the money.
