Touching up AMG brake calipers?

I was looking at my brake calipers the other day and noticed they have some chips on the edges and face. Anyone know where I can get some matching touch up paint or the paint code that matches the silver AMG calipers?

I'd like to eventually get them totally redone, but for now a touch up will be great.

Same here. Would like to touch mine up too. Atleast temporarily. I am thinking of repainting the calipers completely this coming winter. Just havent decided what color yet. Maybe Blue with white AMG letting?

+2 - is it a hard job to get the calipers off for painting?

So no one knows? I guess I may have to take it to a paint shop to try to get it matched. There are some online paint companies that can make touchup bottles of paint if you have the code...

As far as taking them off, I haven't done it on my E55, but on other cars it's just been using a breaker bar to remove the mounting bolts, disconnecting the brake lines, and pulling them off. The hardest part of the reinstallation is bleeding the brake system which takes two or more people to really do right.

Most I've known that have redone their calipers have bought a new set, had them refinished, then installed them and sold their old ones. I'd probably just leave the car on jack stands for a week while theyre getting done though.

As far as actually doing the complete refinish, I'm going to go with a powdercoat. It's much more durable and heat resistant than paint, and will look better over time.

But, in the short term, I need some touchup paint!

hmmm, I think I'll do this when I get my new wheels on. I assume a wheel shop would do this sort of thing all the time. Thinking of going lambo yellow for calipers.

Has anybody figured out the touchup paint code, or what works best, for W211 E55 calipers?

The problem with yellow is, unless your using carbon ceramic pads, the OEM pads will coat these calipers in black brake dust.

For the heat the calipers see I don't think there is anything you can brush on that will really last.

For painting calipers you are correct.

For fixing a knick or two touchup paint works fine.

Anyways i rolled the dice on 18 bucks worth of vw "reflex silver". We will see what happens

Thankyou for the reply, I will pick up some from the dealership.

The vw paint was close but no cigar.

When I did the e55 caliper retrofit on our w211, some areas were chipped. I used the above bright silver metallic and it matches perfectly. Up until you are about 2" away from the caliper... other than that it's a fantastic match. None of the paint has come off and I have touched it up years ago. I don't track the car or anything like that so your mileage may vary if you do. But the above was a good color match!

Sure enough, 775u is a near perfect match.

Yes exactly, they are the oem Brembros for an E63 but fit an E55 no problem.

They used to be very expensive, as the dealership wanted $1100 just for one, but now they can be had for less then $400 per rotor.

Hey so is this an image of the caliper after painting them with that silver dupli color spray can? Or just touching up with the 775u body paint.

My w211 e63 front rotors are really flakey around the brake fluid knub and elsewhere, so I wanted to repaint the whole caliper. Also, was curious how you did the masking around the AMG logo.

Paint will not hold up to the heat and especially brake fluid which will dissolve the paint. The only real way to re-finish it properly is to have the caliper powder coated. As part of prepping for that, the caliper should be media blasted (typically by the power coating company) which will take much of the old finish off. The powder coating will be first the silver color then the correct decal applied and clear over all of it to seal and finish it with a low sheen. Done properly the caliper will look like a new one and will hold up over time. Here is a pic of a powder coated caliper by one of the members here @UncleBenz55

Just touched up a few knicks on the calipers, not a full refinish.

Here are a few photos of my 2011 W212 E550 with painted calipers I went with red G2 paint kit the front look great because I can easily add the AMG decal but on the rear calipers I can’t really do a whole lot unless they sell plates or covers to make the rear calipers look more flush.

Let me know what you guys think, and if have any ideas or suggestions on what I should do with the rears. Thanks!

^ This doesn't pertain to what we are talking about at all.

We are talking about matching the silver AMG paint to the calipers that are already painted silver from the factory.

IE: When they get chipped up from someone not being careful taking the wheel or bolts out, and touching up the caliper so that it doesn't look bad. Not painting them using a kit or a different color...
