Auction price, please. (SL55)

Gents,

I know this isn't W211 AMG specific, but most of the guys that have access to auction price info, hang out here. I'm considering a 2005 SL55 in the near future and I'm wondering about recent auction pricing.

And can someone confirm that a 2005 would be the way to go for a pre-owned SL? I think they got the electrical gremlins figured out in 2005 as well as the DVD based NAV and better COMAND.

TIA!

Working on the wife. Gonna spin it as it'll be HER car and the R500 will be just for rugrat hauling. Little does she know that it'll be dropped, shoed, and have LET work their vodoo on it when she's visiting her sister.

OOOOH! Prices for a 2005 SL600 too, while we're at it.

^^^^^^^^

THANKS!

Also, armed with this info, is it reasonable to offer a dealer 3-4 grand above auction price and expect them to sell?

My plan; pay off my E55, remodel the kitchen, (have to do something for the wife, she deserves it)Then SL600 or maybe even an SL65, depending on where the prices are at in a year or so.

You sure these are SL600 prices and not SL500? According to all of the normal used car sites, these are retailing for almost 20K more than these prices.

Most are asking mid 50's?

I just picked up an SL55 amg -- 2003 with 29k miles... let me say this.. I am one of the guys who get you all auction numbers.. and there is NO way to get an SL for auction numbers.

The 03s are low 30s at auction (very few even sell) and go look on any online site for a 30k miles SL55 in that range..

As for 05 pricing its the same... they are coming in around 36-40k at "auction" most in **** poor condition and go online and search for a 20-40k miles 05 SL55/600... no where near that price.

and the above poster is right those are 600 numbers (600s sell a bit less than 55s) but haha i dare you to find 1 in good condition with low miles for that price, you simply won't.

Here you go:

Nobody is saying that I expect to pay auction numbers, outside of an auction. But I also don't expect to pay 15-20K markup either. Especially in today's economy.

If 2005 SL600's are mid - high 30's (AVG/Above)at auction, I would think low to mid 40's, CPO'd would be attainable for a 30-40K mile car. No?

What did you pay for your 2003?
