- Mercedes-Benz E-Class and E-Class AMG: Why is My Serpentine Belt Squeaking?
Step by step instructions for do-it-yourself repairs
Belt/pulley squeak at start up ...
First start, every time, I get a belt/pulley squeak at idle for about 1-3minutes, then it quiets down.
This is not the kompressor clutch chirp (which I've yet to hear on this car)
She goes in today and I'd like to be able to sound like I have a clue whether or not this is normal. Sounds like it's coming from the right(drivers side facing car) side of motor, down mid way to low on motor.
Any help is appreciated guys.
Thanks
Most likely they will just swap belts. Serpentine and/or supercharger first.
On cooler days on startup I get some squeak on that side down low but being out of warranty, I am waiting for something to fail before swapping out.
Noise does go away completely once warmed up, but this is the only car I have that makes any kind of continuous noise at start up that IMO should not be there.

It sounds like a bearing is going out but then the noise goes away on mine in about 30 seconds.
As like the OP, my squeeking goes away in about a minute or two of driving and will not make the same noise again until the next day (after the car has been sitting overnight).
If this was indeed a belt problem where would I bet able to order a new belt?

Edit: Noise has been completely gone for several months now.
It can't be a belt alignment issue. That would be almost impossible in a serpentine set up like these. So it's got to be a pulley bearing design flaw IMO.
