I know I had those car, but I don't recall paying over $70k for them. Don't get me wrong, GT-R is a very nice car and powerful one too and I like it. I had a few friends that had the R34 GT-R. But I don't know if I want to get one...not for that price.... if price reduce then MAY BE....

Was very close to purchasing a new 2009 white GT-R Premium $76,000 ($4k UNDER sticker), timing was off since I just got a C63 last weekend

The GTR is an incredible car no doubt about that. The car still has blood on it from all the hard work Nissan put into it. It's more adult than the evo, but carries the same attitude. As with the GT3, the GTR would be a great track ***** or a weekend canyon carver, but as a commuter car it would be a waste because the cars are capable of sooo much more. The E55 has a special place. It's a car you can drive everyday and be so comfortable. The power is there when you need it and it can handle a little track time if setup properly. most of all I enjoy an upscale interior I hate super plastic dash boards like in the honda accord. The e55 also a more mature appeal. To me the M6 is a keeper just for the sound alone. I think that sound will be gone forever with the new M motor coming and the new MPG standards coming. I would look for the M6 to increase in value in 15 years because there is noting out there quite like it. the Z8 is an example of that.
The GTR performance is worth 70K, but the brand is not worth 70K. On another note, isn't there only 350 CLK63BS? if that is the case, I think that car will be worth 100K easy in 12 years if you don't drive the hell out of it. but hey, what do I know? I'm just a guy who loves a good car.

i raced a GT-R with my car ( see the mods in the below ) starting from 50km, we were together untill 170km but then the traffic light was red.
but if we start from still, he will take me easily due to the all wheel drive ^_^

I'd like to see you put your car in neutral, bring up the r's to 6,000 rpm & then slip it in to drive. Let's see how long your tranny lasts. It's not the transmission it's the method of newb drivers who started that stigma.

The GTR is very nice but I want you to sell that 997. That to me is set up perfect(looks). Although I have no clue what performance mods you have? I am willing to bet there are alot and all good.

So true--- abuse will crush any tranny and then there is the bad news theory; bad news travels much faster then good news. So the Misinformed talk and it becomes exponentially worse. Most if not all of the cars with the tranny fails were from abuse. Of course the car is not free of issues just like the M5, M6, and basically any car that needs precise engineering. Im glad I did my research and got factual data from a multitude of forums and discussions instead of basing my thoughts on supposition and rumor. I never would have got the car and that would have been a sad day for a car enthusiast like myself. Its still not a car for everyone- Mr Lassiter here said it best, its like Kobe, you either hate or love him but you know he is damn good.

I love the gtr and the clk63 bs. I keep going back and fourth as both have pros and cons. I dont think either will be as fast as my kleemann sl65 was. Keep thinking of a switzer l4 tip 997tt as it should be faster then the sl65 was. Any input from any one who has owned driven these cars?

You guys are leaving the details out.
As long as VDC is on, you can launch all day, dealer or nissan doesn't care.
Launch control on and VDC off puts the abuse on the transmission.
The 6.3 AMG only goes up to 3K RPM in neutral. Wonder how long the speedshift will last if it revved to 8K RPM and then thrown in drive.
