S/C Clutch - Have you had it done under ELW?
Hi guys,
I've asked the question under the belt slipping/chirping thread, but most of you probably skip over it, as you've read dozens of threads on the same topic before.
My supercharger has a really rough engagement and chirps a ton in lower gears. I know most guys on here have had the same issue, and have had the S/C clutch replaced under warranty.
My question is: Have you had the S/C clutch replaced while under the EXTENDED WARRANTY (ELW) period?
Mercedes-Benz says they will not replace the clutch pak because it is not covered under the ELW.
Thank you in advance.

You must phrase the issue in the right manner with your SA. Rough engagement or chirping is not reason enough for them to replace the part. Instead, you might reference that the blower does not seem to engage (i.e. work S/C clutch disc). Mine was covered through my 3rd party warranty. BTW: The new S/C clutch is a considerable improvement over the earlier design. Mine has not chirped at all in over 3 months.

This really depends on your SA and the dealership. I had mine replaced under Aftermarket Extended Warranty. It was a bit of a PITA but we got it done largely due to my SA and Dealership doing the work. My complaint was I had the chirp but also had rough engagement (it was pretty bad).
I tried the "car loses power" bit with my previous dealership but was given the old "cannot reproduce" after they pounded on my car for 4 days. The best they will do with this complaint is replace your IC pump.
Good Luck, try to find a good dealership/SA in your area.

I am an MB salesman who is supposed to be promoting MB Extended Warranties to my customers. My regional Service Rep is in town tomorrow and i plan on speaking with him re: why my SC clutch is not covered under the $4000 warranty that i purchased on my E55 that currently has 22,000 miles on it...especially since it is obviously a known issue on these cars.
Is there anyone else who has had their SC clutch replaced under extended warranty.
Needless to say, i am not very happy about this situation. This is exactly why i bought the ELW.

Final Word
I worked my way up the "warranty" ladder with Mercedes-Benz Canada to the guy who is in charge of everything decision-wise.
He claims that S/C clutches have never been an issue on E55's. Why are there so many threads on this forum re: Supercharger Clutch Packs if they have never been an issue?
If they've never been an issue, then having them covered under ELW shouldn't cost MB much at all.
It seems to me, the only things that aren't covered are the only things that have gone wrong on my car.
Regardless, they refuse to replace it under warranty?
Are there any aftermarket companies that produce a clutchpak for our cars? Is there any benefit in an aftermarket one?

that sucks.
i ended up shelling out some cash in order to get my car back.
arent there any TSBs or anything like that to update the clutch packs in our cars?
i notice that i seem to have gotten a different clutch pack, im assuming i received the updated part.
