Smoke from exhaust
I have an 04 E55 under extended warranty. After the car has been sitting for say 24 hours, and I start it up, I see blue-ish smoke coming from exhaust. It disappears after a couple of seconds. It has no smell -- unlike burnt motor oil. I have not had to add oil and have not noticed any loss in power.
I have seen the smoke before also but it seems to have got worse. Thoughts?

Some what normal if you start/stop the car and move it in/out of the garage...or make very small light throttle trips (under a mile or two), without completely warming the engine up.
Other things <might be> too much oil in crankcase...worn valve guides...worn/stuck rings...burnt piston...<most> times if the engine is "worn out" you won't see exhaust smoke after initial startup when engine is at operating temp, because of the temp of cats. Pull your oil fill cap off and look for an abnormal amount of engine blowby with the engine running.
If there are no unusual engine noises...cautiously, take your car out get up to operating temp for several miles and make a <somewhat> spirited run thru the gears
<legally of course
>
Still problems, see your SA

Thank you markabcls55 for your prompt and useful advice. I took the car out and [legally] pushed the engine. I will see if tomorrow I get the smoke.
Why does on get the smoke if one just drives the car in and out of hte garage? What is the 'smoke'? I have been doing detailing and spotting which did require going in and out of the garage a lot.
If I still get smoke, I am not sure I will know what normal levels of blowby are [not sure what blowby is even]. Perhaps then on to the dealer.
Thanks again.

If you're losing no oil whatsoever ... are you sure it's "Blue-ish" ??? And not simple condensation at start up?
Lots of blue smoke on start up is likely valve seals.

Well I drove it hard yesterday andafter 24 hours no smoke. So it does seem short runs in and out of the garage and in the neighborhood causes the smoke.
It did look blue but it did not have the burnt oil smell. So I wonder what it was.
Thanks to everyone for your helpful comments. I am very grateful you took the time.

My 55 smokes alot too in the first 15-20 minutes of driving but only when idling. The smoke is not thick white, gray, or blue, so not a coolant or oil burning issue. It's the typical white condensation smoke, but it's just weird to me since I'll have the only car that's smoking out of all 4 exhaust tips in 80 degree weather. The car was said to be running too rich when I put it on a dyno a few weeks back. We'll see how it all goes after the performance upgrades and tune, but either way I still think it's normal to some extent.

The grey / blue / black at cold start is normal - something to do with the CATS etc.. not sure what.
If it smokes when fully warm - something aint right. Valves, rings, leak somewhere that needs fixing.
The only exception would be condensation from water caught up in the exhausts - but this looks obviously like steam... all cars do it.... but also more noticible in cold weather.
