Extended warranty, Mercedes vs Aftermarket?
I'm sure this is a common sense answer but Mercedes is offering the extended warranty for my 2005 E55 for $4,427. Are these prices set and is it worth getting the Mercedes warranty or an aftermarket one? One Mercedes dealer said I couldn't even get the extended warranty and offered me an aftermarket one for $3,000 and another dealer for $5,400. The difference is an extra year for the aftermarket and $100 to $200 deductible if work is performed.

mine expires in September, I was planning to buy Mercedes one, but after reading this board I am really not sure anymore.. Fidelity looks like a real deal.

be careful. some aftermarket warranties won't cover MB service prices, and you'll end up having to pay for 1/2 the labor or going to a non MB shop for repairs.
I decided not to get any aftermarket warranty, as I felt I could spend that $2500 or $3000 (whatever it was) on something better. During the time that the warranty would have been in affect, my alternator and MAF went bad. Total price in repairs was $800+ for the alternator and $734 for the MAF. So at least in my case, it was worth it to not have the warranty.

The main reason your dealer will try to sell you an aftermarket (non-MB) warranty is...they make more money on them. MB dealers really do not make much money when they sell you an MB warranty. After-market warranties are sometimes 100% mark-up.
If you could make 3 times as much money selling one product over another product, which one would you push.

Extended Warranty
Mercedes Benz of new orleans told me last week that Mercedes Benz Will not cover my E-63 and they pushed me to purchase a $5000 dollars extended warranty for my car. I have not done the deal yet , what I really want is for Mercedes Benz to issue my extended warranty. Does anyone believe this to be true or will Mercedes actually write me an extended warranty. After reading the forums I believe my local dealer to be blowing smoke....
