basically does the sc pulley come off seperate than the acc pulley or does both pulley come off together?

I'm getting a little scared now. Don't take this personal but I've had pulley issues so it is a scary thing for me.

I have no clue what you are talking about when you say acc pulley. The SC pulley is run by a separate belt and has a single bolt. Everyone that i have seen needed to have pry bars used to get it going. Slowly rocking it from side to side releases it quickly and then it just slides off. You do not need to take off anything but the belt and bolt to get the pulley off. You will need to replace the water pump pulley with a slightly smaller one or one with rounded edges if you are putting on a large one that would otherwise rub on it. That should be it.

Good luck!!

Try and not take this wrong, I'm the last person to try and make some feel stupid but if your tec friend is not grasping what needs to happen I would find or pay for some one else's help. I did this job with the help from posts on this web site and simple tools in my garage. It took me a good 10 hrs going very slow and being safe.

I agree with the above post. I'm sure your friend is very good at what he does but you may want to re-think your plan. Pay the few hundred bucks and have someone who's done it a few times the business. By all means I'm not trying to flame anyone but more concerned about you and your car. JMHO! Good luck and if you let him continue I hope things work out!

No,
Basicly(very summed up) you remove electric fan to gain room, remove the belt, remove pulley bolt, pry pulley off. reverse steps. again VERY simplified version. and like i said before it took me 10 hrs were others have posted that they did it in 45 min. I could not even get my car up on jack stands and the belt off in 45 min. LOL

well he is not familiar with my car and im learning as i upgrade so that's why im asking. basically what i was wondering is if the sc pulley is seperate, which now i know. Since this is the first time he or me has done this to this car, the instruction in DIY didnt exactly say how this pulley came off so before anything gets messed up its a lot easier to ask.

He got it off undamaged , and like sneakyneon said its Def. not a 45 minute job unless you want to screw up the pulley , it takes time to get it off with with out damaging it. I wish I could have been there to help because we always work on cars together , we built the lower custom dash on my Escalade ( in the my photo gallery) dropped the wires and put in 4 12" Subs and basically turned the inside to all suede. We put on a custom exhaust including cats , muffler , and tips on to my dads F430 and rebuilt a 7.3L Ford Turbo diesel and redid the interior so , I could have paid some one to do it but we both like to get experience with different cars from all aspects. Thank you very much for the responses.

i've done some car work too.....installed headers, exhausts, intake, worked with wires and ****.

but i would NOT f*ck with the crank if I didn't know what i was doing. i did it with guys that swap motors in and out and build cars ground up, and only then did we do it carefully. i would never let someone touch the car who hasnt built motors.

anyway, that aside, congrats on getting it installed. make sure there is NO wobble in the pulley and that you installed it with a NEW crank bolt. they are one time use bolts.

He's actually in the process of rebuilding a 1971 Duster , he's built it from the ground up and He's almost finished , all he has to do is drop in the engine that he just built , so i pry wouldn't have done it on my own if I was home , but i trusted him. thanks
