New Chrysler Extended Warranty Plan Provider

There has been a lot of discussion regarding the Chrysler extended warranty plan. As a previous purchaser of two warranties from Chrysler I received an email from the Harold Zeigler Automotive Group who is selling Chrysler factory plans that cover all Merc's (including my CLKBS) and other cars for up to 60% off what a dealer will charge you. You don't have to visit the dealership or have your car inspected to receive an online quote. In my case I chose a 5 year, $100 deductible, 12K mile per year, full coverage plan for $1,750. The new car plan from Merc that I recently received (2 years, 75K miles) was $5,200. The web site is www.ChryslerFactoryPlans.Com. Fill out the info they ask for and you'll get a return online quote with options almost immediately.

I'm not affiliated or associated with them, just passing this along. Is this too good to be true?

Is the wording kind of funny or am i reading into this?

Coverage details:
From its original warranty start date, how long would you like coverage? (original)

Their prices are a $h!tload better than I've seen from the local dealers, so I jumped at it and figured "well let's see how it goes".

So FWIW, here's my experience. It quoted me the rate and everything for the car I want to cover, but it won't actually let you buy the policy for a used vehicle until you download an inspection form and take it to a Chrysler or Jeep dealer to have them complete the form with their dealer code, and then send it back to them. Only then will it let you finalize the warranty.

So at first it looks like no inspection is required, but then when you get further down the line in the purchasing process, it is required. Inspection won't be a problem, my vehicles are all immaculate, not so much as a cracked bushing anywhere on the car, so I don't think I'll have a problem with the inspection.

I will let you know how it goes. Also, FWIW, they are willing to cover my 2001 SL600 with 30k on it, but 2001 seems to be the cutoff year, it won't go older than that. Frankly, I am amazed they will even go that far. As to a mileage cutoff, I am sure there is a mileage limit, but I don't know what it is since I don't have a lot of miles.

My question is when will your 7 years begin, or actually when does it end? You know what I'm getting at. Did it give you those details?

From the way it looked on the site, it was 7 total years, including the 4 from the factory.

They appear to have two different sets of warranty programs, one for cars that are still under factory warranty and one for cars that are outside of the original 4yr/48k period. I would highly advise you to act quick, cause' for fun I plugged in a different vehicle that was still under factory warranty, as compared to the one I want to cover that isn't still under factory warranty, and it looks like the price DOUBLES once your warranty expires and you don't fall under the "New Vehicle" side anymore.

yeah - it's always cheaper to purchase an aftermarket warranty while your vehicle is still under OEM warranty. that nearly eliminates pre-existing conditions from being claimed under the new warranty (at least thats the idea).

I'm still good until next March, but I'd like to get a head start on it before the people that have it already rape the company for more and more $4k plus repair visits. It seems like MB is willing to fix or replace ANYTHING as long as they don't have to cover any cost. I have a hard enough time getting my dealer to replace/repair things under factory warranty. I'd still like a concrete answer on the terms of the warranty and whether it starts from your purchase date, or in-service date...

It's The Same MBZ Factory Warranty From Before

I spoke with Michael Chase this afternoon for those of you who know and trust him and have purchased your extended warranty from him in the past. He is now with the Ziegler Group who asked him to set-up their website and get them into the discounted warranty business. Apparently his former employer went out of business. He said the Ziegler Group is very large reputable company with approximately 10 dealerships.

BTW your extended warranty starts from the original in-service date of your car. And that period includes the original warranty period. So, the best you can really get is three years and up to 100k miles BEYOND your original 48 month warranty. But, for the price and the fact that MBZ STILL OWNS 20% of Chrysler you really can't go wrong, especially in the out years. If you sell your car the warranty is transferrable to the new owner (very desirable) or, you can get a prorated refund of the balance. When I traded my 05 E55 with this warranty in place I notified the warranty company by mail and received a $1,100 refund check within three weeks. That money will now be applied to my CLKBS that I purchased from a non-MBZ dealer.

I am getting a quote if $1885 for a 5/70k miles Used Maximum Care warranty (04 E55 with 59,800 miles). The plan does state the years start from the date of warranty purchase. The finance option requires a $160 administration fee. I need to get an inspection (which has been an nightmare for me).

If you have an 04 and are getting a 5 year warranty, aren't you going to be almost out of warranty when you get it? 04 to 09??

I spoke with Micheal today and he stated that my warranty (mileage and years) would start the date of purchase as well. He also stated that since the car is still under the Factory warranty and has less than 48,000 miles, I would not need an inspection. So I will call him back when i get about 47,000 miles.

The inspection form for the Ziegler group doesn't seem to bad. Doesn't mention oil/filter change Alot of quick misc checks. Hopefully when I bring it in to the dealership it won't take them long to complete it.

When I brought in the one that Michael Case sent me a few months ago, the dealership quoted 2.25 hours of work was needed to complete. That one had more labor intensive checks, such as transmission oil level, cooling system pressure test, etc

So I'm having my inspection performed on Thursday at the MB dealer. They also quoted me 2.-something hours to do it, so that must be their standard rate for a warranty inspection. I downloaded and printed the forms I have to bring them, and the inspection looks pretty intensive. I don't think I will have any problem, though I guess we will see.

I have to get in on this before sean bankrupts them with his insane warranty claims. LOL

You know what's really going to **** me off? I'm about to shell out $3.5k+ on this, and if my usual luck holds up, then watch NOTHING will ever break now.

Trust me the good sleep @ night knowing they'll cover it if it does is more than worth it! Plus don't you have Airmatic on your SL600? That sheet fails like clockwork, though the V12 is proving to be rock solid, I have the oil changed every 3500 miles (due to my hard driving)

Did anyone notice that Chrysler Warranty sells at the exact same rate for any model of the Mercedes or BMW for that matter? They don't deferentiate between different MB models, which obviously to us AMG owners is a huge advantage. Other than good claim experience with Chrysler, this explains why a lot of us have the Chrysler warranty because it is so cost effective.

These are excellent plans for AMG or V-12 owners!!!! We're paying the same price as would any other E-class or C-class owners.
