I liked the looks of the M40's however if it's all about weight savings then CCW's are a good choice!

Classics won't work. They were my second choice before these and John @CCW said they wouldn't werk in 18's. ![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

I was going to wash the car today and then take some shots. The car is way too dirty to post any pics...

Hot Hot Hot!
LOOKS AWESOME! John @CCW was a total pleasureto do business with. He gave me a tour of the whole facility one day after walking in off the street to ask a few questions. John dropped what he was doing & spent 1/2 hour showing me the entire manufacturing process. I ordered my SP500s the same day.
Good to hear about these positive experiences in a world full of people & businesses who don't give a f*ck about service & integrity.
CCW FTW!

He left the HRE Monoblok family due to weight issues. The monos for benzes are made from a different mold than the ones that go on the Pcars and Bimmers. EG: my wheels (19's) weigh 21 and 24 lbs (19x8.5 and 19x11) but Suns 19x9's and 19x10's weighed about 27lbs and 28 lbs. HRE developed the Monoblok for Benzes with the dealer in mind. They were thinking more about dealer sales and that means customers that dont watch over the roads as well as the members here. It meant they were going after everday drivers of Benzes. So HRE developed a heavy duty version for the Benz bolt pattern so there would be less chances of bends and breaks on a much heavier line of cars. I got this info from the National Sales Director Guy Atherton when I was thinking of putting some Mono's on my Benz back in the day.
Sun can you take more shots of the entire car and not just close ups?

CCW's are great...I've known John for years since back when he started as a tiny outfit doing race wheels for Grand Am Cup down at Daytona and through the humble brginings of that series. He's done a few race sets for me and friends mostly on racecars and his wheels are fantastic, durable, light, and reasonably priced....on a racetrack the wheels are solid and on the street they will hold up to just about anything. His one peice wheels came about in a need to penetrate the street marketplace; and he id a fantastic job with that series; there's nobody in the wheel biz that knows more and has better customer service...CCW is expanding operatations and rightfully so...I predict that with their sincere business practices and customer focus they will be a very dominant brand in the near future...the days of $5000/set of pimply bling blinger wheels are about to be challenged!

I was kicking around the notion of getting a set of 18" Classics for track use, but so far the stock 17's are working out just fine.

That's a bummer!!! Those are my favorite CCW wheels. How big are your brakes? Love the color by the way, so polarizing against the silver.

I was really lookin forward to rollin on the LM20's, when they said they couldn't, I moved onto the classics. I was definitely disappointed but then these wheels started to grow on me. I'm more then happy with them now!

I think they're very plain looking - which isn't for everyone, but personally I like it! A very purposeful, race-car wheel style...
EDIT: BTW, your chrome lugs look a bit outta place now - have you considered going to a black lug bolt?

Tell me about it, if it wasn't for Sun schooling me about this, I would have a set of HRE Monoblok M47's on order already.
Which I still might order if I cant find anything else.

A BIG difference. Acceleration is noticeably quicker. Braking is quicker also but can't really tell as my rotors are shot and need new ones. Cornering, well that's alot better too. After werk, I was on my way out to have some dinner and grab a drink. I was taking this one swooping turn and thought to myself, wow the car feels wobbly. I looked down at the speedo really quickly and I realized that I was taking the turn at about 10-15mph's faster then I have before.

Didn't have time to clean the car but thought I'd get a few more shots out there. I'll have a friend shoot the car later on but here are a couple shots of the car. Enjoy ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

I like them
I shaved 10lbs from each corner going to r.tech monolites and it is a huge difference. Braking and cornering was most improved, so much that I can see how you decided against the 8lbs+ HRE's as good as they looked.
It looks like a purpose built setup with performance in mind. I pcoated my monolites a similar textured charcol color for the same reason.

I think 19's 1pc forged are the best choice for these cars...offer a great balance b/w looks and weight and the unsprung mass delta between that and an the 18' counterpart is negligible. Ligher rotors, calipers, axles, bushes, control arms, and lighter tire weight (this is one most often overlooked) etc, contribute much of the reduction in unsprung mass
