I finally got around to installing the evosport line-lock kit in the E55, and now have 2 trips to the track with it under my belt.

My first impression of the kit is great: the components are all of highest quality, and the instructions are well-written (and in English !!!)

The install went fine; the hardest part of it was the STAR/DAS bleed sequence....bring brake fluid !!!

I haven't decided on a permanent location for the button, but you can see the race position and general storage position:

Race:

Storage:

Operation is straightforward: depress brakes, hold button, release brakes. You are now gripping by the front brakes only, facilitating the burnout and salvaging the rear rotors.

The new tire setup I'm running requires a long 3rd gear or 4th gear burnout to dead hook, and this kit is an immeasurable aid in achieving that.

The looks from the staging lanes when a Benz murders a burnout: priceless.

I would recommend this kit to anyone who considers themselves a track regular. Any Qs, feel free to ask.

Nice!!! I actually had one since Famosa and it's been sitting on my garage floor since.... A couple of my tech buddies advised against it in fear of damaging the SDS pump (not a 100% positive this is the correct name). What are your thoughts on this? Over long term use do you see this happening? Also, what would happen if that button was accidentally pressed while every day driving? Just questions I have that has kept me from installing.

BTW...what was your 60' time on that launch? It seemed like you dead hooked on that one.

Wayne, I hear you on the Benz burnout. The crowed is always like WTF!

I got on tape a guy in the back ground yelling "WOW" and then a little girl going "Look at all that smoke"

Then this smoky burnout

Wayne good stuff, I need to do Line locks soon. I tell you the longer I do a burnout the better my car hooks. Seems you are having the same results with the hot burnouts.

It took about 4 hours for the install, about 1.5 more with the STAR/DAS to properly bleed the brakes.

The solenoids will engage, if pressed while driving. The only harm I see happening is if you press and hold the button, THEN try and brake.....no brake fluid going to calipers could be interesting.

The pass in the vid was the second one on a new set of tires, so I was launching a bit softer than normal, feeling for traction. I think it was a 1.67 60'.

I have seen a warning message if the brakes don't get fully depressed before engaging the line-lock. It goes away after a key cycle and doesn't return.

I think we have lifetime warranty on SBC pump, but I don't see this causing problems - this is a well-designed kit with no corners cut. Good job, evosport.

It was around $400, IIRC.

Thanks. I was also told that you could remove a fuse to fully disable the unit while daily driving...is this true? Not that I'm doubting what I was told but trying to get confirmation from someone who has the unit. THanks again.

It would be no problem at all to add either 1) an inline kill/arm switch or 2) a removable fuse of the appropriate amperage. A simple on/off toggle or rocker would do the trick.

I drive the car daily, and have put about 2500 miles on the car since install with no issues besides tire wear.
