S/C pump Fail Poll

My 04 is reaching high temps and losing power. I have 56k miles. My question is, when did your pump fail and how did the car feel after it was replaced?

Something better than the almighty CM30

This is the ultimate SC pump for modded E55s. Just about all the E55K modders use the CM30. I decided to try something different. Mine flows 110 litres per minute vs. only 22.5 litres per minute for the CM30.

Here's a pic to show the difference.

03 55komp Was driving one night took it from stand still to 170kmh. After that the car was losing power then it turned off the super charger. Wrote up what happen the boy's told me ic pump. so got it changed on warranty and the boys at mb dealer all so done a full ecu reset after that the car was back to full power like nothing had ever happen. You dont have to reset the ecu if u dont want they just did it coz i asked them to.

just put the new pump in and away you go

After a few short pulls my blower feels like it does not engage. I think its time for a new pump with the mods i have planned this month.

One pump failure on 40,000 miles 2004 SL55 and changed my 2006 CLS55 22000 miles just as precaution.

Tested my original CLS pump, it flowed half the capacity of a new CM30.

Vadim at Fedor Dezyn sells them at a very discounted price. The inlet and outlets are 1-1/2 in dia but he also provides the tapered hose fittings to match the stock SC inlets and outlets.

I would think between the pressure and loss of time in the stock heat exchanger that a high flow pump without a large reservoir and high capacity exchanger would actually yield negative results over one producing a nice steady flow.

yes. That is why I have a massive Code 3 HE which is twice as big as the C3 HE for the E55. Yes you will need both a high capacity HE. Best is bar and plate design over tube and fin. A chiller resevoir is also highly recommended but not required.

i was gonna post the same thing,You DONT want a pump that pushed to fast, you need the coolant pass thru at a rate at which it maximises (SP) the cooling effects of the heat exchanger,if it passes thru to fast it will not cool as well.

19k miles is when my 55 pump was out and I wasn't a member of the forum and had no idea what was the issue. I was so upset that after a few or just 1 full throttle run my s/c would turn off. When it did turn back on it wasn't running on full power.

I raced so many times with that failing pump which was resulting to so much frustration that I started doing everything I can to figure out what was going on. Thats when I found MBWORLD ! I figured out the problem ordered a CM30 and installed it and I love the results. Supercharger never turns off and it feels strong all the time. I actually ordered another 1 that I have ready for when this is ready to go .

My pump has NEVER failed. This leads me to believe that the previous owner may have upgraded the pump. What is the easiest way for me to tell to see what kind of pump I am running?

I have had pumps fail on both of my V12s and E55k cars. The one on my 600 failed at 15k miles.

I don't see a poll ...

But add me to the list of IC pump failures. Mine was replaced with the 07 model pump, at 34K.

Makes perfect sense to me.

The caveat is don't add a highflow pump without a big HE.

Dropped the car off this am and just got a call from the service guy saying that they ordered the part and the car will be done tomorrow. Can't wait to see what the car feels like.

2005 E55 AMG
changed mine tonight, hopefully its bled well.
My temps the other day were just climbing and
climbing and on a short 3rd gear pull to 100 it hit
198*,it was about 80* outside.
tonight with the new factory one installed it cruised at 95-100*
and hit 128 on a 3rd gear pull to 125.
so it definetly is change.

I take this back. It finally failed several times today during a cruise. It felt like the car was in neutral. However, I did notice one thing....it was either ON or OFF. No in between or 1/2 power feelings. Time for a new pump!
