Crank key help
I never heard of a crank and key being one piece, and would have to see it to believe it. If replacing the broken key is not a option, you could have the the pulley pinned with a dowel. Any shop that has added a s/c to a LS1 will be familiar with the process.
Good luck.
Also please explain the flexplate procedure (what and what not to do) to tighten the pulley bolt. if it turns out i can still use everything and not get a crank then i'll try to lock the flexplate.

As per others advise, it takes A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! of force to tighten the bolt, not exaggerating, it takes a lottttttt more than you would think it would take.
Btw, new crank is around 4k, and a HUGEEEEEE pain in the azz to install, as in take apart the entire engine....
Honestly, take it by hooleyboy at dyno comp and let the see what can be done! IMHO..
I wish you the best of luck!

I know your trying to learn from this experience but honestly I think its time for you to bite the pride and take it into someone who is familiar with the vehicle. You really have no idea what is damaged at this point and if you continue to do what you are doing it can begin to cause some major damage to your vehicle that I'm sure you care a lot about. If the damage hasn't been done yet, it will be if your trying to guess at it and just ignore what has happened. Regardless of your decision good luck, and if you really don't want to take it in anywhere post some pictures, or give one of us a call.

This is what I would like to do / have done:
1. Ship the pulley kit back to me via overnight delivery. I will ship you a new kit via overnight delivery as well. After two bad installs, I can only wonder if the pulley is out of balance now. Instead of risking it, I would rather replace it to be certain. Send me the crank bolts and crank pulley, I will send the same.
2. Please find a local shop that can do the install for you. I personally installed a crank pulley on my car to later find out I did it wrong. It's not worth the risk bro.
We do a couple of installs a week and I can tell you that when I'm helping our tech trq down the crank bolt (Vadim was right, it's a two man job!), I get pulled across the shop floor while he is trq'ing it down. It's not easy to do.
Hope this helps!

I've these are the only parts you need it would be around $200
Installing them would be the hardest part as you got to take off a bunch of stuff.
I hope WE can find a less expensive fix.
Transmission lock method.
Take one of the flex plate bolts out, replace it with one that is 2 to 3 inchs longer, It will bottom out leaving the extra 2 to 3 inchs exsposed, as you rotate the pully around this extra will hit the side of the trans allowing you to tighten the bolt properly.
Its what I did. It worked fine for me, but like i stated its at your own risk. I would prefer a grade 8 or harder bolt. make sure and lock tight the flex bolt when you replace it. You must have a torque wrench to do this job, none of this thighten the !@#$ out off it.
I hope WE can find a less expensive fix.Note: From what I know to get at the woodruff key you are going to have to take off the timing chain/case and basically the whole front end of the motor. I would thing the Supercharger and maybe even the heads or at least the valve covers have to come off so you can expose the timing chain at the camshaft gear.
Needless to say its an expressive fix part and labor wise. If this is all that has happen. Talk to John or Andrew over at Schumacher Mercedes and tell him Hooley sent you. They for sure can help you.
I know what you are going though. If you need any help feel free to contact me or Dyno-Comp.

If it only took 10 hours of labor,. I guess thats not that bad when you compare it to what could have happened.

Make sure you torque the crank pulley properly upon install and it won’t back off.
