Why isn't there a Mercedes "signature lighting effect"?
So BMWs have the halos or "angel eyes", Audi has their LED strips (seen on the R8 and all newer A4s, look http://www.fourtitude.com/news/uploa...ed_600_003.jpg if you don't know what I'm talking about).
Why doesn't Mercedes have anything? We have the "beast eyes" that a few members have implemented, but those are illegal in most (if not all) states.
I think it'd look interesting if the raised hood ornament glowed with a soft white light, or a lighted silhouette of the Mercedes emblem inside the grill. As to how to accomplish this, I'm not sure. EL wire, perhaps? I don't know.
I'd just really like a signature Mercedes lighting style, something that immediately identifies your car in the dark. I can spot BMWs behind me from a mile away, and Audis are getting easier to spot with their LED strips.
What can we do?

+1, mb should make something unique aftermarket manufactures will implement them into other makes.
i.e. - You can buy a copy cat signature bmw angel eye headlamp look-a-like for chevy trucks and even the led audi copycat for other cars too. I've seen them on the rod at night and mistaked them for other vehicles.
I like this idea.

I'd have thought our W211's have the signature 2 mis-matched round lights on each side. I know when I didn't have mine I would know it was an MB by that... although that goes away with the newer models.

Have you noticed that the Audi strip turns off on whichever side has the turn signal on? It looks terrible when there is a bright strip on one side, and just some blinking amber on the other.

MB implemented the signal indicator on the side mirrors about 10 years ago & held patents on them.
It is more of a safety feature than a lighting effect & MB allowed all other manufacturers to create their own mirror lamps for the betterment of safe motoring.
I love the LEDs on the new Audis, but it does look terrible when the signal light is on, like mekantor said.

We have LED tails... just about every new car out there has LED tails now.
The halos/angel eyes were so incredibly popular (and they only came on ONE CAR originally) that everyone started copying them and then BMW themselves started releasing them on all of their models.
I also thought the double headlight/small inner headlight look was a MB signature, but there are a lot of other cars that have that (Toyota Soarer/Lexus SC300, Celica, etc). First time I saw the E-class on Men In Black 2 (at the age of 13 or so) I was like "DAMN THAT CAR IS CLASSY."
Still, I'd like some kind of signature lighting. I have white superbright wideangle LEDs in my inner housings, and I thought I'd be able to drive around with those as DRLs, but my car continues to use the low-beam xenons as DRLs, and the inner headlight 'city lights' only come on when I flip my headlight switch to on, not auto.
I'll think about creating something. Anyone have any ideas? I'd rather not going with something everyone else has done (halos, LED strips) but rather something unique and Mercedes-ish. Maybe I can get the hood emblem to light up.
