New Camaro gunnin' for me...should I do it?
I've got a friend I work in my flying squadron that is a gearhead who just bought one and thinks he's faster. I most certainly don't want to be dethroned as the current Alpha Male! 
On paper its slower, but anyone have experience with it and/or recommendations? 
Should I race him from the hole or roll on?
Also have a friend with an 03 CTS-V who thinks he's faster too. It's tough being at the top of the food chain.
Always gotta prove your mettle against the young bucks

Agreed, run him and you should have zero issues. With the best driver they can only get to 60 in abou t4.5seconds... but I have yet to see anyone (by my estimation) get near that.
I have yet to actually run one when each of us got a fair(good) launch but my slower C55(to you) keeps up better than it should.... food for thought

I drove a 6.2 and what a letdown, (it had to have a problem) dealer said like 425hp, felt like 300.

Texas heat might get you..
try an evening run and if you have not changed your pump since you bought it.. it would do it for the sake of being sure its working.
or .. buy a OBD2 data logger.. check your Intake air temps... if you are hitting 170+F... you have a bad pump.
Whatever you do... don't run unless you know you have a healthy pump. Or else it will end up on Youtube ..

Run him anyway he wants it. They are slow. They weigh around 4000lbs on the road and dyno in the 370 rwhp range. The M6`s have a little more power over the A6. I have seen several on dynos and been in one while it was raced.
Watch out though, guys are moding these cars left and right. I know of 3 that have bought brand new Zr1 crate motors to drop in. Several also have dropped in the 427 Z06 motors from the GM crate buy program. 21k gets you a Zr1 motor. Oh yeah, countless SS have already put magnachargers on them too.

It would probably depend on if the camaro is modded really. I raced a SS from a red light and killed him b/c I got better traction....then from a roll I could not pull away from him, it was neck and neck. No clue if it was modded or not, but definately gave me a run for my money.

the LS3 is better than the L76 because the LS3 has an iron block, better heads........LS3 makes like 30 more hp than the L76. not good to compare manaul to auto new SS camaro

LS3 is an aluminum block (as are the LS1, 2, 6 and 9).
