Former Lurker now Newbie...now ACCIDENT!
Hello everyone, i've been visiting this site for many months preceding the purchase of my e55. it took many months but i finally purchased a black on black 2006 e55. there was a lot of information that was very helpful from all members. glad to finally be aboard
on a negative note, i was sideswiped yesterday by some clueless girl. i was sitting at a red light when she slammed into the left rear. the fender is damaged along with the rear axle. the wheel is knocked to the inside. going to the shop tomorrow. will post pics. pissed off but happy to officially on the forum

Too bad, sorry to hear of your misfortune. I am sure you will be fixed up in no time.
BTW if you post pics of the damage , the first response will be
"That'll Buff Right Out"

Sorry to hear about your accident, but they do happen and sometimes you can't do anything about it. Just let the shop do their magic and get back the beast so you can start enjoying it

if your axle is bent YOU HAVE MAJOR DAMAGE![action](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/action1.gif)
Take it to a very high end body shop. Tell them you want it as NEW and money is NO object...

Sorry to hear about this. Don't forget to submit a diminishment of value claim to the girl's insurance company. Those extra dollars will come in handy for your future mods.

thanks for the kind words. i purchased the car in may for 36 thousand. car is cpo with warranty until 2011. it has 37,000 miles. yeah, the axle part really sucks. gets me to wonder if it will ever be the same....even if the work is done by mercedes.

Your car will be fine. It sounds fairly simple to repair. Worse case you get new rear links and a new half shaft and it will be fine. I highly doubt the subrame is bent since the links will bend way sooner and release any energy that could bend the subframe.
Good luck.
here is their web page link. If you ask around you will see they are head and shoulders above the rest in this field. I have never had an issue with a car repaired there. I have had 6 cars fixed there. Some were minor and others were 50k repairs.

I see you are in the southern california area. If so take your car to Beverly Coach Craft on Sawtelle between olympic and pico. It is the best body shop in the so-cal area for Mercedes Benz cars. I have known the owner for 15 years and he is a wonderful expert in the MB repair field.

look into the OC too, I think there is a Mercedes Factory owned shop down there, they fix all the high end MB's, including classics. I hear they are the best of the best. Wife's E550 was in an accident, clueless 20yr old boy in a 4Runner, scraped the side from right rear to right front. busted the suspension and brakes on top of the cosmetic damage. They had to weld part of the apron back... considered frame damage, value dropped like a rock. Anybody actually had experience claiming "loss of value" against the other guy's insurance? I was told that it was not possible. We hired a PI lawyer, he's handling the case. The repair bill at the local MB collision center was over 20K. My tuner could have done a better job for about the same, he's very meticulous. Otherwise, I was recommended the center in Orange County. Don't get it done just anywhere, it's your axle. Fight for a new part. Otherwise, your new toy will be scarred. by the way, sold the E550, took the 30% hit on resale value, and got a E63 instead.
Good Luck!

car was taken to the shop today.......i went with auto stiegler in reseda. i contacted my service advisor and asked him where he would send the car. he recommended them. intial estimate is five thousand. i had my old camry in there about seven years ago and they did an excellent job. AAA recommended them as well. there were many mercedes in the shop. couple of amg models as well. just hope for the best. my deductible is a thousand bucks.....however i'm not at fault at likely wont be paying anything.
