Anybody ever dye their light colored headliner black?
I've never cared for the light grey headliners and always wondered if it can be dyed black to match the rest of the interior? Anyone ever done it? What product(s) did you use? I know the hard parts would be easy to change the color with a product like Surflex.
Thanks.
Thanks.

chuck,
May be easier to just buy it in black? I have black headliner from the factory in my 65, and I love it. Not sure if it was offered in black for the W211, but I'm pretty sure it was...

I got a quote for my W210 for Alcantara headliner, sunroof door, A,B & C pillar, no color change so hardware remained same. $2200.00
Alcantara alone was $600. So a dye job is the most cost effective way to go.

Thanks for all the great info guys. I'm not concerned about the hard parts like the oh ***** handles, hooks, light surrounds as I can use Surflex and dye/paint them black. Stuff works great, I dyed the door handles on a refrigerator that we had painted black about 15 years ago and it was tough stuff and never showed any wear.
I'm wanting to do this on the cheap so I really don't want to spend that kind of money to do the job. Having said that, I do want it to look like it was professionally done and while I love alcantara on the headliner I'm okay with just changing the color of the stock headliner. Besides, it's a 55 wagon so there's a LOT of headliner....
There has to be a sprayable dye that will do the job.......

Someone did this on a bmw forum, but I can't find the link. This is awesome.
