Bought this 2003 E55 w/salvaged title

If you don't mind me asking...... How much did you pay, and how much do you think to fix it? I am just wondering how discounted it could be after all of the effort to fix it, then you still have a car with unknown care and a salvage title.

I can almost guarantee the bodyshop that it was sent to removed the radiator support, fenders, bumper,etc so the insurance adjuster could visibly see all the damages.............which is what happens on 99% of all cars that got to a bodyshop. There is almost always hidden damages and in this case there were enough to make it a salvage loss.

That car will require a lot of $$$$ to get it back to running properly, and then it will STILL be a salvaged car with unknowns. A properly running average 2003 with that kind of mileage goes for in the mid 20s. This car would have been great for parts but I wouldn't want to invest $$$ into it.

I was thinking with a salvage title, that is a high teens car (tops) when it is done. Personally, I can't see paying more than $15,000 - $16,000 (done) when there are great 2003 E55s for $22k - $24k.
See auction prices below. You can usually find one on the internet at some dealer about $2,500 over auction prices. Granted, there are not many sold, which is why I bought my retail from a Mercedes dealer. Even then, I bought a perfect 2004 with 46k miles and every option except for distronic, and I only paid $29k.
Sorry man, if you bought this on the cheap, and can do most of the work yourself, it might be a good deal. Otherwise....

I just did a rough calculation. Just parts alone needed to fix the front end would be $20k ! No, I'm not joking. Granted thats going by MSRP prices, but factor in labor, paint, and other hidden damage you got yourself $30k in repairs.

So, 17.5K-21.5K (after repair) for a car that you could've picked up at auction for 17-19K, and it not be salvaged or wrecked.
I think you're better off parting it out, recovering your money then buying a proper car.
