ANY BENEFITS FROM NITROGEN FILLED TIRES?

So let me summarize what I consider the facts.
The difference in short term (<1wk) pressure stability over temperature is ONLY a a function of the water content.
Long term pressure stability (I think the number was 2lb in 6months) is better with N2 because it is 3-4 times LESS permeable through rubber.
The thermal properties of N2 and O2 are close enough that it makes no difference.
Athough O2 causes oxidation, it is a non-issue for the time span we use our tires and no one is using metal rims.
An easy way to get very low moisture content in your "air" is to buy a bottle of N2.
With these facts, I can leave it to everyone to make an educated cost-benefit comparison.

I use nitrogen for a while. I can tell you for fact you pressure will be the same in all weather condtions and with any speed you drive.
the weather where I live can reach 120 F. most of the drive i do is on highway with speed not less than 100 mph.
Before I used to have O2 and with heat at will go up 2-3 bars.
Now I use N2 and the pressure stay the same in all condtions.

Not buying it my friend. First of all they would have burst at high speeds, secondly air just DOES NOT EXPAND that much. Simple physics.
Maybe .5 bar if you are driving VERY fast. I race my cars, and after 30 minutes of lapping, the most my tires have EVER went up is about 6 psi, or LESS THAN .5 bar.

wow, tough crowd. why shouldn't the data point of bang for the buck enter into this discussion? filling the tires with nitrogen costs more than a mount + gsp7900 balancing for me and that adds up...
also, i didn't say everybody should run air -- i said that i do, because there aren't benefits for me. i'm not searching for that last 1/1000th at the track. i think it's a waste of money for how i drive my car. what's wrong with that? *shrugs*

You guys are all insane if you think it has no verifiable benefit for any and all uses.

No Pressure Drops
The tires on my SL and BS have been filled with nitrogen for over three months. Every week I check my tire pressure with a calibated tire gauge. To date there has been no loss of pressure in any tire. That, at least to me, is a HUGE benefit! My C280 gets nitrogen tomorrow.

The best part of this whole thing O2 is that air is NOT really oxygen. Air is so widely differnt, okay 20% O2 80% Nitrogen for the most part, that there IS NO pure data on it.
Oh well, dry air for me guys. You can waste your money however you see fit

I get nitrogen for free, otherwise I probably would not do it. I have a regular air compressor and O2 works fine if you monitor your tire pressure routinely. Also, if you don't have access to nitrogen and want to experiment/change/add to your pressures at home it can be a pain going back and forth to your nitrogen supplier to get a "fix".
