Hey guys

I searched on a board, but still don't find a solution. I painted my front grill couple months ago, but because of stone chips there are many marks on a grill again. What should I use to protect a grill from stone chips. Did anyone try Plasti Dip?

Thanks

Confucius say, avoid the stones, and you will avoid the chips.

I've painted grills and coated them with 3-coats of Krylon crystal clear acrylic for a semi-decent protection layer. The paint has to be smooth though or imperfections will be magnified IMO.

Plasti-dip sounds way ghetto, not something I'd try. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

haha! I know that Plasti Dip doesn't belong to Amg cars. I am just sick and tired to repaint a grill every two months because of stupid stone chips! Thanks for your suggestion, I will stop by Sherwin Williams to pick up Krylon crystal clear acrylic spray

They also make a matte finish clear spray I believe, depending upon the look you want w/the grill!

I am looking for satin black paint. I went to local home depot and they didn't even have a plasti-dip!

If you find out the answer brother...yell. I've got the same problem......I've already done a repaint/refinish once...after 6 months.

I would try something like Lamin-X but my grill has satin finish and putting the protective coating would just defeat the purpose in having a satin finish.

You should be able to paint it however you like, and then finish it in a satin finish clear coat.

Check it: http://paint-and-supplies.hardwarest...ign=googlebase

Worth a try.

You guys should look into having your grills vinyl wrapped, instead of painting. It's a lot more durable.
