Cheap Superchargers- What do you think?

Hey guys, came across this guy who makes superchargers for just about anything. Have you guys seen one? What do you think? I know someone who is about to try to put one on a jeep SRT-8. Let me know.

Well, I would be VERY careful from one of their opening statements

"Runs cool air through the intake manifold unlike turbos which run hot exhaust air"

Which, as I hope we all klnow is not correct. The ONLY hot exhaust is used to drive the turbo, NOT pumped into the intake manifold as they suggest

GOOD LUCK to whomever trys it

looking for e55
be careful a supercharger runs at extremely high rpms I know turbos spin at over 50k I believe if that stuff breaks apart it will work its way to the motor. I have heard a blower tear itself apart and it scared the **** out of me

This guy is basically modifying turbochargers to create a centrifugal supercharger. Essentially he is using a shaft to drive the turbocharger compressor and is utilizing the turbocharger compressor housing. The biggest issue I see is that the bearings are not oil lubricated and I think you'd run into issues with them seizing up in short order. Paxton superchargers had problems with this back in the day even when using a self-contained oil reservoir. If oil soaked bearings failed, bearings with no oiling are sure to suffer the same fate. Plus the mounting brackets look very flimsy which can result in belt tracking issues under load due to bracket flex. If I were you, I'd spend the extra money on a ProCharger. They make big power and are reliable. I don't see the impeller of the turbo as an issue with this setup, I see the engineering as the issue. There looks to be no internal step-up ratio. Vortech and ProCharger run in the neigborhood of 4.4:1, mean the compressor wheel spins 4.41 revolutions for every revolution of the main drive gear. This would mean major lag in boost onset...

These things are scary. They do not last long enough to need new bearings and neither will your motor....

Amazing what people say in trying to sell their stuff and actually end up blowing themselves completely out the water.

On an aside ... its actually a very good interview technique - just get the guy to talk and talk and talk about something specific and if he does not know his stuff he will say something stupid somewhere along the way.
