Melanite Black is Jade Black
Dunno if anyone else cared but I just got word that Jade Black has been renamed and is now Melanite Black, the color is the same as indeed is the color code (185).

What an odd choice of names....melanite black.
The root word 'melano-' means black.
Like saying "black black", except in this case they apparently want to convey a "green black" image.
Melanite is a form of garnet (mineral) which appears in nature in many shades--brown, black, red, yellow or green.
'Jade green' made a lot more sense.

I like Jade Black better
Melanite black reminds me of "melena." Melena, for all you non-medical folk, is blood from the upper GI tract that gets digested and comes out as black tarry stool. Trust me, it can be smelled from very far away and has a very distinctive odor. Not what I would like to associate with my new $80,000 vehicle.

The pics from the Sydney auto show have an E55 in Jade/Melanite black that look incredible! I can't wait to see it with the 2-pc AMG Style IVs on... I've had it with Brilliant Silver (last four cars!)
