Star Diagnostic How To DIY with lots o pics
Just joined here after acquiring a CLS Recently!
Thank you for the support so far; I have two questions!
* What sort of a Cable do I need to communicate with the CLS 63 (2007) OBD Port? (I have an ELM327 Cable which I used on my previous car, not sure whether it work though)
* Which software and where do I acquire this ? (Also, does it work on Windows) ?
- I'm pretty much looking to enable the lock / unlock beeps and any other interesting features if available.
Thanks in Advance!

First, Lowering the car.
Get to the 211 Section
Attachment 383602
You will get to the main menu
Attachment 383603
Then go to Func perf by more than...
Attachment 383604
Then Chassis
Attachment 383605
Then Level adj
Attachment 383606
Then Suspension
Attachment 383607
And here is where people have problems, they just go to actuations and then lower it, IT WILL NOT STAY LOWERED this way, you have to go to initial startup
Attachment 383608
Then Initial with manual settings
Attachment 383609
Then F2
Attachment 383610
Here you will see a screen that shows the voltages which correspond to the height of the vehicle. they must be within the given ranges in the left hand column. use the + and - buttons to lower the car (In my screenshot I am in the car with a friend in the back seat, so that is why it is at 3.27, it should not exceed 3) Then hit F2
Attachment 383611
Enter in these inclination angles and if the car is within the voltages supplied in the page before, the car will accept the new lowered setting, if not it will reject it.
Attachment 383612
Now, how to activate the unlock and lock beep (honestly, one of the best mods to do if you have an older model e55
)First Control units
Attachment 383613
Then Body
Attachment 383614
Then rear SAM
Attachment 383615
Then Control unit adaptations
Attachment 383616
Then national version of ATA function
Attachment 383617
At this screen you will see a pull down menu with a list of different regions on it. The only ones you need to worry about are USA with buzzer and Netherlands. If you choose USA, i will give you three short quick beeps when you lock the car and one short when you unlock it. Netherlands will give you three longer beeps when you lock the car and one long when you unlock it. Personal preference on which one you like. Then hit F3
Attachment 383618
Then F3(YES)
Attachment 383619
Hope this helps out some people. I really did not find a good DIY for Star Diagnostics, so I thought I would help out!
Thanks
Aleks
EDIT: Info for -10 Mod added
Hello I know its like milion years ago but are You still here?
I have an issue with setting the proper height my airmatic...
Here are my values from SD, is it ok?
Values of the sensors

Car level:

Second screen shows inclination angles for the rear not good (too low). Raise the rear of the car another 5-10mm or so but keep voltage values within acceptable parameters.
Best to use an inclinometer app on your smart phone.
I have posted on this before. Use advanced search upper right with my username and keywords "W211 suspension calibration". Not difficult and can be performed in an hour.
When I checked with my mobilephones and inclino app it shows some crazy numbers i dont know if the angles are shot or my mobile phone....
So you set not height just angles and volt values? But you can set different heights and the volt values will be within range....

My advice is just from "eyeballing" the two photos. I've calibrated my car a few times so I have an idea of what the numbers should look like.
Trust the inclination angles using an inclinometer for maximum accuracy. Measure on the rear axle shaft, negative 0.9 degrees (highest height) to negative 1.5 degrees (lowest height). Negative angles on the rear axle shaft indicate the differential end is lower than the hub end. Should equate to camber of negative 2.2 degrees (lowest height) to negative 1.2 degrees (highest height). I target negative 1.2 degrees axle shaft inclination angle on my car and it provides me with a camber of negative 1.7 degrees.
There may be a couple of millimeters difference on the second screen but so long as all are within parameters (negative 3mm to positive 3mm) I don't worry about it.
I found correcting the front inclination angles manually with DAS corrected the values of the rear height without my having to manually adjust the rear inclination angles. So...start with the inclination angles first.
Here are my notes from the last time I calibrated the suspension:
2005 E55 AMGVIN WDBUF76JX5A779044
17 November 2022
221,751 miles
$0 total
-Calibrated suspension using DAS. Raised front from 25 ¾” to 27” fender height.
-LF was -2.7* before, +3.2* after (+3.1 to +4.1 is spec’d). Before level sensor voltage was out of range (initial -2.88 volts versus max range of -2.8 volts). End voltage -2.14 volts. Level sensors before -17mm, after +2mm. Allowable range is -3 to +3mm.
-RF was -2.4* before, +3.2* after. End voltage -2.65 volts. Level sensor before -17mm, after -3mm.
-Rear axle inclination angle correct at previously set -1.2 degrees. Correcting front corrected out of range rear level sensor; -11mm before, +1mm after.

thanks again for great update.
I’ll give it a try, do you do this alignment with engine running? I’ve found also for 211.065 what I have DAS is saying for front angles 3.1-4.1*
rear: -1.7 <-> -1.1*

After playing for a while with DAS now Ive got at least even numbers, its not bad but after rear shock absorbers replacement next month I will target for better numbers.
Cars level:

And voltage from signals,

And the levels are (according to DAS fronts 3.1-4.1,, rear : -1.7 - -1.1*):
Front Left: 3.2*
Front Right: 3.2*
Rear Left: -1.5*
Rear Right: -1.5*
According to the inclinometer from my phone but I am not sure how accurate is this app/phone..
Oh i Have a question, did you calibrate phone with app to 0.00* to the floor for example before checking the angles?
Thanks

I use two identical sockets plus a six foot piece of 1 inch square aluminum tubing with a carpenter level or inclinometer app. Place sockets where front tires will be, place aluminum tube across sockets, then slip floor tiles under sockets until aluminum is level. Repeat for rear and then front to back.
Leave floor tiles in place and roll car so tires are on floor tiles. That is my starting point for a level surface. IIRC, for my car and my garage, it is two floor tiles under left front and one floor tile under left rear tire. Not a $5000 professional setup but good enough for me.
I calibrate my phone on the floor to start but the floor is fairly level to begin with.
Good to see you making good progress.

The option is not there for an SSD but if you messge him he will add it for $30. Unfortunatly the price is already $40 higher than when I bought it two weeks ago. Then I bought a used D630 with 4gb ram but no HD off ebay for $65.
This week I have:
- Disabled rear O2 sensors
- Disable secondary injection pump
- Disabled EVAP
- Disabled my broken pano roof, now I can still use the shade with no chance of accidentally cracking open the glass
- Disabled annoying keyless go reminder ding
- Raised in gear idle by 75 RPM
- Raised speed limiter to 300 km/hr
- Corrected tire size
- Disabled side and interior mirror auto dimming (my stupid windows are so dark I cant see out them at night already)
- Browsed EPC, and WIS for funzies.
First, Lowering the car.....question u seem very knowledgeable like MB tech, I have done almost everything to try to fix my low beams not working, highs work!! Someone suggested i change the SAM MODULE, if I do so how difficult is it to re-program!y buddy has autel 906,pro....thx's
