Star Diagnostic How To DIY with lots o pics
#155
Yesterday I hit the panic button and the lights flashed and all I could hear was the crickets chirping n the grass. I guess I either don't have a siren, or it's disconnected somehow.
Next time I have the front tire off, I guess I'll remove the fender liner to see if I have a siren and check to see if it's hooked up.
Does anyone know if the siren has a separate fuse in the rear SAM? That would be an easier first step to check if there is one...

I just acquired MBStar C4. Not sure how to do the developer mode yet. I am willing to do mods/scans/coding for folks in Colorado for the price of a smoothie

Please someone has to know how to turn this off! It drives me crazy too and I want to turn it off.

Thanks, I did the seatbelt reminder. it is off but I did not see an option to shut that annoying little ******* off! I will take full responsibility if I lock the key in the car.

KeyLess Go Key reminder is off!! With some help from the guys over at jcrecordings. Go into the CGW and change KG to "Not Fitted". It will still work. you will not get the annoying reminder beeps. The IC will not turn red if you are a stop, while in gear, and press the KG button like it does now (telling you to put the car in Park). If your car is a wagon, the hatch will not open. thats the only ill effects. I know it seams pety but got to be very annoying.

Lowering issue, Won't accept allowable voltage
Ok,
I am trying to level my vehicle as the passenger side is about .375" higher than my driver side.
I bought the car like this, and I believe that Alex,, you did the lowering on it originally.
As I bring up the lowering screen it is as follows:
Says my voltage must be within range:
LF 1.8-2.8
RF 2.2-3.2
Rear 2.2-3.0
We set the car perfectly level with voltages at:
LF 2.7
RF 2.3
Rear 3.0
Also tried number more within range to see if that was issue.
LF 2.53
RF 2.2
Rear 2.9
When we go to the next screen to save, it says our voltages our our of limit?????
Couple notes:;
1.We are not using a Romess to check incline levels
2. My current voltages, especially on left side, are actually already outside voltage limits, yet it won't let me save new voltages with the limits....
At first, I was re-inputting the voltage levels into the inclination screens..... stupid.... However, once I figured out that we need to know those angles, we quit.
Can we guess on those angles, or are there some generic numbers to use..?
Only way I can guess to properly get this done: the incline angles measured at an alignment shop, take it back to tuner to level the car and give them the angles, then take car back to alignment shop to align once my car is level....
I cannot find a tuner with alignment machine, can't find alignment shop with SDS, and my local dealer won't touch STAR lowering.
The pain.
Please, someone help.
The shop was nice enough not to charge me, they did take my credit card.
They said as long as I come back and get it done with them and show them the correct way to do it, they will not charge me for the Hour of diagnostic time they gave me.
This is important as we have 2 other fellow E55 members in Orlando that want this same mod done, and we finally found the tuner to let us use SDS, yet we cannot save the settings, even within allowable voltage limits.
How important is it to get the incline angles correct as oppossed to just putting in some consistent numbers?

2004 E55 AMG / 95 Mustang GT (Highly Modified)
Well after a about 30 minutes of raising and lowering I now have my 2004 E55 lowered and running 10 degrees cooler. Thanks guys for the guidance.
I purchased this kit:
http://www.chinaobdshop.com/free-shi...roduct-72.html
...and I can say it works pretty well. A little slow as it uses an external drive, runs only with XP and you have to buy a USB RS232 cable (remember to set this to port 0 in the advanced configuration in the device manager). I bought the internal kit too:
http://www.chinaobdshop.com/mb-star-...oduct-259.html
...but have yet to get this to work. I put the SATA drive into two different IBM T60's I had and neither would recognize the drive. I then put the SATA drive into the wife's ACER Aspire 5515 and it booted, configured but I could not get it to communicate with the Multiplexer.
Just thought I'd share my experience and praise all who contributed to this thread. Cheers!

The external hard drives generally work better since they make you run a virtual machine in VMWARE.
For people with newer laptops, they usually don't have a real serial port. If you don't have a real serial port, and try those USB to serlal interfaces, the hardware will not work. If you have USB only, try to get a PCMCIA or PCI or miniPCI slot card to serial. I have yet to find a USB converter that will work properly. If someone else has other experiences, please share .. this is my own experience.

I also just downloaded the latest version of VMWare and it is much more stable and faster than what came with my system.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I just purchased a PCMCIA card off eBay as I was having to use a docking station because the USB port didn't have enough power. I'll also up the baud rate. I think I did leave it at 9600. Thanks!
