My wagon died on the freeway last night!
My '06 E55 Estate is bone stock. Just clicked over 22000 miles on the way home, going about 75 mph in the rain, the motor died
The range was still at 45 miles; I'm sure there were at least a few gallons left in the tank.
Coasted to a stop on the shoulder, and the car restarted immediately and idled nicely, but stumbled at anything more than idle.
I was able to limp it to my buddy's shop....no codes thrown.....we'll see if it's a bad fuel pump or what!

Do you have the tendency to run your gas tank low? I can only think that sediments may collect and be denser in a tank low on gas and may clog up the pumps...then again there are filters.. not sure if they are built in or not.

do both the pumps perform the same function? in some cases the cars have two pumps, one pump scavenges the fuel in the tank to one area and the other one pumps it out of the tank.
