Definately....worth the wait! She's mine:)
I am “star struck”…lol!
After more than a year of lurking and three months of shopping I have finally acquired an E55. JOY!!!!
It is a 2006, black on black with all the features I was looking for, and a few I wasn’t…lol. Nav, HID, dynamic seats, keyless go, premium, sunshade and trunk closer.
It has 42K miles and five months of factory warranty left, one of its strongest selling points for me. I plan on getting an extended warranty before the factory expires.
Factoring in the additional money they gave me for my trade, above what it was truly worth, I paid roughly $33K (including T&T). Not the best deal out there, but not the worst either.
I absolutely LOVE this car and it has exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. The power is freaking intoxicating. Still in the learning curve on figuring out how to accelerate without breaking it loose.
Only complaints are that the Logic7 system leaves something to be desired (that might be a factor of only listening to regular radio) and I find the SBC remarkably annoying in city traffic, something I hope to get accustomed to.
I have already swapped the stockers out for 19” Modular forged rims with Toyo T1-R’s (thanks Benz o Rama!). I am going to concentrate on aesthetic mods over the next few weeks (already added AMG flat hood pin as well), then start with the power mods in the spring when the thrill of driving this beast starts to wane..lol.
Soon she will have:
Tinted windows
Drop via Reentech ELM
Trunk and roof spoilers in body color
6000K HID fogs with matching headlights and driving lights
LED’s in interior and license plate
Euro bumper strips
Black front grille
Still on the fence about CF lip and diffuser.
Thanks to all the members here who have encouraged, assisted and supported my search….this is truly a great forum.
Cheers!
Brian

I have no idea about when you're breaking loose but if you're getting more than "wiggles" with ESP - may be the tires - the summer rubber is not so good in low temps and it has been freakin' cold lately!

Also thanks for turning me on to Benz Elite Service in Alexandria! Already had Eddie and Amil do a service and inspection. Those guys are great. They discovered a small fuel leak on the rail at the regulator and instead of sending me to the dealer for three days worth of warranty headache they pulled it offf and replaced the seal for dirt cheap.
I love those guys!
More pix will be along once it gets dropped and tinted....

It looks like you're off to a good start, congrats! I don't know how you managed to lurk and yet hold off on pulling the trigger for a year. I would have given in a year ago.

Well more of a wiggle really. I think I just need to get accustomed to having rear wheel drive again....lol. I came from a car with all wheel traction and "only" 350 ft/lbs of torque at the wheels.

Congrats Brian, it's about damn time!
Did you ever swap out the rear tires on those wheels? One of them was very slightly out of round. And how bad-*** are dyno-seats? I love em.
Drive in good health and I'll see you at the next track rental.

While I think black rims are sexy, I wanted to go with a set up that was more representative of the style of the E55 when it was released.
Having never owned a Mercedes before I like the black/chrome contrast that is so classic. I admit when I first added the rims I thought it might be a bit to much chrome on the lips (as I hate all chrome wheels)....but it is growing on me. I think once it is tinted, dropped and the black grille is added it will really come together.
Besides my last car was murdered out and I like the change.

Haven't swapped the tires yet as I thought it wise to play around with them for a few weeks and get them really bald.
Then I am going back to the stockers until March when I will add new rubber.
And thank you for your assistance and support, your words of wisdom helped me make the right decision..."Buy the nicest one you can find, it only hurts once"
