Plummeting Value of used W211 E55
#26
Bought my 03 with 60k miles, paid a little over $2000 for a 3 yr/36k $0 deductible full warranty and have no regrets at all. I've got about 70k on her now and I've only had 1 warranty claim that cost me nothing and had to buy tires/brakes. Other than that no out of pocket costs and no other problems.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

In my opinion the CLS55 is a timeless design much like the 90's era RX7 300zx Supra..ect if it were anything else i would have dumped it a long time ago. No offense to the E class guys but the blandness of the looks would not allow me to look past all the issues associated with owning a Benz. When considering the CLS i was looking at the CTS-V,Quattroporte,IS-F,M5,M6,E55 and a few others. The CLS won convincingly. My car is a keeper and im taking steps to make it amazing each and every time i drive it which to be honest is not that often.

Mmm, see what you saying but I suppose in arguement BM fans would say the same about putting some rims on a E320. I think the difference between the M5 and the 5 series cars are nearly similar to the difference between a E55 and a standard W211, but I suppose this is a endless discussion....PEACE!!

CLS is a gorgeous design...agreed. But it's not timeless simply because it is a relatively new model design and has not surpassed enough time. The SL on the other hand you can say is truly timeless...because of it's history as an MB flagship since the 50's and it's progression through the years; same thing with the 911 porsche, that's timeless also. Both of these examples have had design changes through the years but have remained essentially the same format...SL has always been a 2 seater, front engine RWD roadster with a pronounced front Star and other related styling cues...as an example.
Porsche 911= Timeless design. Been around 40 yrs.
MB CLS is in no way, shape or form timeless.

agreed the CLS is a beautiful design...it has very nice lines and is one of the nicest looking sedans in the last decade in my opinion. BUT it's not timeless, it cannot be with such little time the model has been in production...if the design stands the test of time (which only the future can tell) ...then it will earn it's place amongst the truly timeless (defined as trancending time) models in automotive history...Merceds SL, Porsche 911, Corvette, Mustang etc...etc...until then the CLS remains a nice looking late model sedan.

2004 E55 AMG and 2003 C320 4Matic Miss my 993 Turbo above!!
Depreciation
Production #'s for the US...
2003-1318
2004-3218
2005-2214
2006-1187
If so few were made why is the value dropping off so quick?
Is it the same reason the S600's that cost $140K and now sell for $25K?
Reliability issues and the fact that you can't own one w/o a warrantee?![action](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/action1.gif)

If you worry about that **** than you can't afford to buy it in the first place. Spend the cash and drive it hard.....
BTW, bought a 3 year 100K warranty and have not had to use it after 2 years and many miles....
Peace out....

Dude, you better just go buy a Camry and stop sweating it. You are reading a forum of about 25 people that post most often and may have a problem or two. That does not account for the other 5000 E55s on the road. If you think the reliability is so bad why are you still looking for one? Your posts are starting to depress me. Looking at a 2002 blown E55 is not gonna help your reliability concerns.
