Full paint correction on my SL600 - PICS
Not E55 related, but a few of you asked for pics once I got my SL back from the cosmetic surgeon. I didn't want to hijack 'Worth the wait's' thread any more, so here ya go:

I highly recommend everyone get this done at least once a year or once every other year if you drive your car a lot. And those in the DC/MD/Va area, there is only maybe 2 or 3 people capable of this kind of work. DJ Mayo, the owner of Refections Detailing is who I used and highly recommend.

Looks amazing, most likely better than new, IMO MB factory black finishes have a lot of orange peel, there is not a hint of orange peel in those pics. There is nothing more beautiful than a black car with a perfect finish, but keeping them looking that way can be a PITA. I gave up on black cars a while ago, the only black car I own is my 95 M3 and I wish it was white. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Did they have to wet sand it or use only various compounds? I had a black cars finish restored several years ago and it had to be wet sanded and it cost me closer to $1000

For the LA/OC local guys, someone pls give me a recommendation for getting this done.
Feels like a dumb question but maybe not...is the need for paint correction color dependent (I'm guessing not)? I.e. will it make any difference on a silver car? My silver 04 doesn't seem to "pop" and I'm wondering if this will help.

And your $1000.00 cost is right on the money for that type of work.

DJ just signed up here. His screen name is Got_Leather. Feel free to PM him. This screen name will look awfully familiar to those that frequent www.autopia.org

****!
I had a multi-step detail done on my blk E63, which had medium to heavy swirls marks from prev owner. 24 hrs total over 2 days but worth it, but is was bank! I think going rate is like $30-$45 hour for an experienced detailer.
It was like glass after it was done.
If you're in the Bay Area and need a recommendation PM me.

His going rate is $60.00 per hour, so my job booked at $1200.00. Since I drove the 100 miles to him, and let him keep my car for a few days, he discounted it.
It was a birthday present from my wife, so it cost me a grand total of zero. Well, time and gas, but that's it.
Such a shame it's just sitting under a cover hooked to it's battery tender right now. I'd love to get it out and show it off, but our roads have had a coating of salt on them for a month, with no end in sight.
