I have the following sitting at home...
-90mm tb
-90mm adapter plate to be welded to a modified inlet
-wiring harness that takes care of needed pin swapping
At this point this setup is not bolt-on and I will be cutting and welding to an OEM mercedes SC unit. We will either use an 80mm inlet or maybe even the spare stock one - since it has to be cut anyway.
Planning on doing it this Saturday.

I read that going too big can cause undesireable driveability issues, and weird throttle response. I am not saying that 105 is too big, I guess we'll find out. I can always upgrade

As with any mechanical systems there are always engineering tradeoffs. One has to wonder what is the largtest size TB and/or pulley compared to what is optimal for the rest of the system while minimizing tradeoffs and maximizing overall sytem (in case engine and driveline) performance...just a thought

I like option A.... but why not 180mm pulley? It's been proven by all the 55s that are currently in the 10s (without NOS) and you would not need the extra water/methanol route given you have the heat exchanger and rear reservoir mods. Many of the members who are currently running the 180mm and rear reservoir seem to have very reasonable IATs

190 hasn't really been done and documented. One of the reasons people stayed away from it is that with higher boost, the air just gets too hot and the intercooler is not efficient enough to cool it. I saw some IAT logs of water methanol on an E55 that have me convinced that 190+W/M will make a lot of power over my current setup. We are talking IATs of under 85 degrees.
180 just would not be a worthwhile step from my 175

The 90mm may have some calibration issues too (code P505 and P106) .. Once the tuners start looking in this area, they will be able to calibrate our codes and idle.. Then we can get real big!

Question is - when the extra size will stop yielding extra power. In theory the answer is: once you eliminate any vacuum prior to the throttle body in the air intake. Either way I hope that this will work out.

I have been very curious why not very many people have been removing the stock intercooler and putting large top mount ones similar to the slr? It seems that both flow and cooling capacity would be increased. I agree with the water/meth injection but at some level your pressure drop across the i/c core has got to be a lot.

Bingo! We tested this going from the 78 to 82mm and we only saw minimal gains. I can't quite remember the numbers but I want to say that the 78 was pulling 2 lbs and after the 82mm was installed it dropped .5.

I just found out we can't do it this Saturday, so its getting pushed back more. Kinda upset, but it gives me more time to decide on whether I want to do spray.
