Purchasing drag radials, how about the wheels?

I am going to purchase a pair of BFG drag radials from Tirerack, and I am looking at getting a wheel to mount them on, just for track use.

Anything particular to consider, other that possibly weight of wheel? Can I go with an inexpensive MSW wheel that I use just while at the track?

BTW going with an 18" set up.

Thanks,

I think you mean CCW

And if it's track only I would go with a 16" wheel and Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial or a Hoosier radial, not BFG

That was my original plan. But, I thought having them mounted to a different set would also extend their life. Since I drive back and forth to the track. Not sure how many miles they would last for.

Nittos would last the longest for daily driving. I drive to the track on my 16" Mickeys. Some times I keep them on for a week if I know sunday will be eventfull...

Is the grip that the Nitto provides comparable to the MT, or do you sacrifice a lot of grip by going with the nitto?

If I can find the right size MT's I am going to get them. If not, I might just go with the BFG's. With my lack of experience at the track, I need as much help as I can get!

Yeah the 18" Nitto will not be quiet as good as Mickey thompson on the track for obvious reasons. The compound is just not as soft. However I have gotten consistent 1.72-1.75 on my nittos when i had them. Now that I got 16" Mickeys I am down in 1.6x.

However the wider Nittos used to be more consistent on the street, as you can see in my videos on youtube I was able to outlaunch everything from supras to AWD modded turbo porsches and big turbo evos and big turbo awd Vr4 galants.

The supra in one of my videos was on the BFG drag radials and he is very consistent on them too.

I am going "Finny" style with these baby's, very light too, 16.5 pounds!

In regards to the tyres, I'm going with the MT, I belive the hoosier is softer but they have advised me it should not be used on the street.

Send me a pm if the offsets will work on an E55, or email me direct.

+1 Best Bang for your buck and is about the lightest setup out there. Got some great 60's off of this setup.

37 et for the clk rims. as for fitment i wouldnt know for the 55. if you are hitting the brakes try a spacer to move it away from the calipers.
on my 32 i used 24mm shank wheel bolts for a perfect fit.
if you use these on the street the hoosiers arent street legal. try the mt et streets weighing 29 lbs. 7 lbs. heavier than the hoosiers but cheaper and street legal.
