maybe selling my new 09 e63

Saturday I went to Houston for the auto show, you'd think I'd drive my newest car. But I couldn't. Fear of breaking down on the freeway a hundred miles from home. So I drove my truck. Thinking the whole way, why have this car if I don't take freeway trips?
I was stranded/towed twice and one dead battery that didn't involve towing.
I've had it 6 months and it has 2200 miles on it.
It's not that I care it breaks every once in a while. It's that faith aspect I need that I can drive it anywhere without so much worry that it's gonna need a tow.

The last 500 miles have been fine. But the more I think about it the more irritated I get.
I've sold and bought so many cars in the last 5 years. I think I'm in the zone where I'm just plain tired the whole cycle. I've been racking my brain about what to do. Get down to one vehicle and wait and see? continue with the E and do nothing, although it's obvious I need two vehicles if I keep it?

Honestly I have a new toyota truck that makes me nervous. Girlfriend is dumping her camry. My old bmw is gone as of this moning, truck is going on autotrader next.
It's downright depressing. I'm very emotional about cars, over dramatic to. So everyone tells me.
It's very unlikely of me to post like this. But seriously, I think I need a doctor.
I don't even know if it's possible for me to only have one vehicle.
I wanted mercedes to be different, I really really wish it was, but it isn't.

Relax, mechanical things can, and do break. Just deal with the inconvenience when they do. If you car truly has a problem, you should drive it as often as possible, so you can lemon law it before time runs out.

I know how you feel, trust me. However, I am a firm believer that cars need to be driven as often as possible, daily even, to prevent many isues that seem to plague them. I have no solid evidence to back this up, but proper maintenance and regular use, IMO, are much better than a garage queen that gets driven only on nice weekends. When I say driven, I mean driven! Part throttle, full throttle, different conditions, etc.. For certain battery issues especially, sitting is the worst thing the car can do.

I get anxious as well about things breaking, but my car is my DD, so unless I want to ride the bike when it's 5 degrees outside(tried it, not fun at all), I take the car. The last thing I need is for it to sit for several days and drain the battery or collapse the air suspension.

They are right, AMG cars are meant to be driven. Take it out on a 50 miles round trip, essentually a big loop. If you were in my area, I would say a loop around DC. Your car needs to be broken in, not driven it makes things worst. Let me borrow it for a week, I'll put about 300 miles on it.

I know, I drove it all day today, there's no way I could sell it, lol.
I do drive it everyday, problem is when I'm working it just sits for months at a time.
I've had it for six months but I've only been here for three. I have a battery tender on it when I'm gone.
I'm in a better mood now, I'm really not that much of a looser. hah

You just need to find others in Houston to help you through this traumatic set back but trust me I'm a doctor...
Drive her and you'll not want to have anything else in the garage!

Sorry to hear about your issues with the E. I am the same way as you with my cars. I dont get attached too easily, but the E has me hooked. Its really going to be sad to see it go in a week. I think you should have a little more confidence in your car though. I would hop in mine in a second and drive cross country without even thinking about it. They really are great cars, although mine only has 30k on it, it is essentially a brand new car. There isnt even a crease in the leather. Its almost like its telling me to keep it.

I had an 07E63 for three years and now an 09. No issues to speak of, did have to replace the steering angle sensor under warranty but nothing else. Just changed the oil and punched it at every chance. Definitely have to keep the warranty laying around.

I just drive my cars... but then again I haven't had that many problems...

After owning the E for 6 months I took it on a 1700 mile round trip through Oregon, Idaho, and Utah with absolutely no problems. Now you know if I would have broken down anywhere along the way, I would have had absolutely zero place to go.

It's arguably one of the most reliable cars I have owned so far.

12k in 8.5 months. No issues at all.

Parts will wear out, for sure. But I have no fear putting on the miles. Like all good cars, these need to be driven. And they're no fun to drive sitting in the garage.

And considering the huge discounts we all got on leftover W211s, it's a great deal.

Drive the car!
If it keeps breaking, take it back until it is fixed under warranty or replaced under the lemon law.

Not to hijack the thread, but I also attended the Houston Auto Show and was incredibly disappointed for two reasons:
1) How down is the auto industry when nearly all auto makers send ZERO concept cars, 2012+ models, etc to the fourth largest city in the country? All of the booths were manned by local car sales reps, and there was not one car that stood out from the masses. Even my five year old son was underwhelmed.

2) The M-B showing was pathetic. Their "booth" was like a double-wide space used by the guys selling the magic chamois or knock-off steak knives. Kia, Hyundai and Scion all had a better showing. Very, very sad...and did more harm than good for the brand in my opinion.

The Houston car show obviously is not a big car show.

Apparently, neither is Portland. We didn't even have a MB or BMW booth at the Portland International Auto Show...

RE: E63 Reliability

My 07 E63 has been completely reliable, it's a keeper. I would just start to drive yours more to build up your confidence.
