Stealership trying to pull a fast one?
Ok Guys,
Dropped off my car yesterday because a cd got stuck in my radio and my service guy informed me that my supercharger belt was dry rotted and should be changed. The car is under factory warranty still but he said the belt was not covered because it's a wear and tear item. Does this sound right?

Yes, it does sound right. Mercedes doesn't cover wear and tear items, like brakes pads and rotors, belts and hoses, etc. Unlike BMW they cover everything except a clutch.
I would buy the belt and put in on myself. Or take it to an independant shop, and have them install it. Shouldn't cost more then $30 for install. You definitely don't want your SC belt breaking. I had two of them break on my Mini Cooper S, bottom line I was left stranded. Take care of it ASAP.

Look at the belt yourself and you will be able to tell if it is dry rotting or not. Just b/c the manual says it should be replaced every 4 years, doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be done. Im not sure you would want to tackle this yourself, but you are more than welcome to try. Im sure MB or any auto parts store would carry your belt size.

Changing the supercharger poly belt has got to be about the easiest DIY task on an E55. Takes maybe 10 minutes tops:
