Initial Thoughts On My New Hankooks

So, I did some research on this forum and then visited several tire websites and read lots of reader feedback to feel comfortable going with the Hankook Ventus V12 Evos. I have the stock rims so my rims are 18s. I originally was recommended by the tire store manager going with the Bridgestone Potenza RE050s and was quoted out the door just under $1400. Yikes. That was a little scary and thus why I began the research. I was out the door on the new Evos for just under $900 with the warranty included. So far they are smooth and quiet which I like as I rack up a fair amount of highway miles. Of course, any time you put new kicks on your ride it is always smoother and quieter as the tires that you are replacing have inevitably worn unevenly. Anyway, I think they are comparable to the Michelin Pilots they are replacing on the noise level. Traction is similar too as the points at which I break the tires loose appears to be the same. The only negative I can say so far is that the sidewalls seem a little softer than the Pilots. I am not sure if I am imagining this but under high G turns I feel like there is a bit more lateral movement or flex in the tires. So far I am very pleased overall and recommend the buy. Cheers.

Thanks for the review - currently battling between these and the Conti DW's for my summer set up. Much appreciated

Thank you for the initial thoughts as well! I'm subscribing in case you have anything additional to say positive or negative. I love the pilots but my right foot doesn't agree with my wallet and another $2000 on tires isn't what I'm hoping for this summer. I'm seriously considering these at half the price. Thanks!

They make good tires for the money. Good review.

I have the hankooks too for about 3k miles. When I read reviews on tirerack most were positive except for a couple negative around traction.

After having the tires I understand the reviews. All the positive reviews were from low hp/tq cars and the negative were higher powered cars.

I love the price, quietness of ride and also wet weather handling (I live in seattle). My only problem is that they do not hook up well. I feel they are no better than my stock contis when I get on it. THought it was due to 30 - 40 degree weather here but we have had some mid 40 days and same thing. Hopefully when summer comes around my opinion will change becuase other than that I really like them.

Thank you for the information. Will be needing some summer tires in a couple months so it is nice to see some opinions on different tires.

They probably do have softer sidewalls, but you can just inflate them a little more to help with that..!! I keep hearing good things about these. When I decide to stop chewing thru NT05's these are near the top of my list..!
