What are your opinions of the 03-04 Audi RS6?

Hey guys what do you think of the V8 twin turbo Audi RS6's? I ran with one on my home from work the other day and it was pretty quick. Too bad I was in my daily driver 6spd V6 Accord which could hardly keep up. Hopefully I'll run into him again while driving my E55. Any one else have any experience with the RS6?

I like em...when I had my e46 m3 I really didn't knkow what an rs6 was so I tried running with one on the freeway...and lets just say I quickly realized they were quite a bit faster than my m3

Great car, a real sleeper. Friend of mine had one and very much regrets having sold it.

An awesome car that I still have a lot of respect for. The truest sleeper out of the E55, M5 and the RS6. Also the only one with Quattro. lol

+1 all of the above. Apart from the M5, the only real alternative to the E55

Much love for it. My friends father owned one for a long time and I have to say if I could throw awd on the benz I might need a new set of underpants.

They are absolutely INSANE when tuned, but they blow up almost immediately.

E55 Estate
I owned one for two years and sold it for an E55. They are super cars. AWD and snowtires make them unstoppable in the winter.

The suspension has many many problems, that are still unresolved. The transmission is the weakest link by far. RS6 specific parts are hard to come by and any visit to the dealer ment at least 1 week no car.

ditto. i traded mine in for the e63 and never looked back. the slush box was never in the right gear, thumped wildly when called upon to downshift, which combined with the turbo lag made it nearly impossible to drive fast smoothly. But for sedate driving, on open streches it was very nice. I have no doubt the E63 is faster, smoother and a lot more refined at the same time.

btw, the E63 handles winter just fine. all that extra weight and front bias of the quattro is overrated for non-racing winter situations.

just one's man's opinion having owned/driven an rs6 for 3 yrs.

Its a very nice car but they aren't reliable. They tend to break alot, especially when modded

The Audi RS6 is one bad *** ride, V10 580 horsepower, and all-wheel drive, excellent grip. These cars are no joke, the problem is that you don't see them on the road, well at least I haven't seen one yet. I did see an ocassional RS4, they aren't slouches either.

I looked online at them and they are still about $30K for a 2003 and much more hard to find than an e55. If they where priced in the high teens would be interested but too close to price of an e55.

You're talking about the new one, though - I didn't think they (Audi) brought that version to the U.S., did they?

The '03 RS6 was a very cool uber-sedan, but agree with the above posts mentioning its alleged fragility.

You are referring to the newer RS6, not the 03. The 03 was a biturbo V8, the new one is a V10. You wont see a turbo V10 RS6 stateside unless it was imported (very rare). There is actually one in our area since the VW/Audi North America headquarters is in NOVA and one of the execs there had one imported. Same goes for the B5 RS4 (not the newer ones). One of my friends has a B5 RS4 and an 03 RS6

When I say they aren't reliable I say it because I have experience workin on them (PITA)

But they can be very nice looking and driving (when they are running right) cars

If you want an RS6, you better off buying a A6 with the 2.7L V6 eingine with 6 speed tranny and tuned it. The RS6 parts are extremely expensive. Brakes, suspension, and tranny are constantly need replace.

I heard a lot of horrible stories about RS6 in repaires.
Not only the parts are much more expensive than E55 and also the labor, its a very complicated car to fix and require much more time.
To keep a car like that, you should have a good ext. warranty.
