Latest Dealer software update!

For those people who dont have a tune. It might be worth contacting you local dealer to get the latest MBZ software update! I kid you not!. The bast 2 55k AMG's that came into the shop with the latest MBZ update both put down 420whp! on a Dyno-Dynamics. AFR is flat at 10, that rich my my standards, but the power was there.

Just today an 2004 E55 cam in with 25k miles on it and tossed down 420whp and 480wtq yes 480wtq! bone stock! It might be worth looking into for a free update... Thats if you dont have a tune.

MB will do it for free? I had my car in for service a couple of weeks ago and they told me there was a new software but that I would have to pay for it, something ridiculous like $200.

That makes no sense, its an update not a add on. should be free, I would call around or Call MB headquarters to see what is up. I agree 200.00 seems steep but really if makes more power and runs smoother , it may be worth 200.00 , I see people spend that on air filters and they dont make any power increase.

Well i just got a problem , my sweet E55 is not making the power it should without the new Program update. I get the BS but then they should give it to you if you ask. does anyone have the TSB complaint info on what you need to tell them is going on. I am still stock , I know i just got into the E55 AMG thing and will probably do this for now until I find which ECU flash I want. I wish someone would show me the thread on comparing the best 2-3 ECU upgrades.

Now I am really confused? I thought that all the new updates included the secondary injection flash that also included the torque limiter software/? THis I thought was the update that stopped the E55 from making too much power and basically put a leesh on the cars that were modified?>>>

what nice about it is the AFR at 10.1 is very tunable on the aftermarket. What this means in the end? IDK. I would like to see someone dyno before and then after the update. I've only got other E55 in stock form to base it on. Hay there might be 20hp in it.

AFR=Air fuel Ratio right? And since I am not a tuner, what the heck does that mean to me? 10.1>? Are you saying since its running rich that you would be able to run a larger pulley and air/intake-outake mods to increase hp without worry of detonation? Or does that mean there is more combustion in the chamber with the increase of fuel ??Sorry that I might sound ignorant here.
I figured that you would want to lean out the fuel mixture to increase hp??

Yes AFR = Air fuel ratio

on a scale of say 8-15 and 12 being the optimal (this is just for an example some may like there AFR in a slightly different spot). this AFR was at 10... 2 points off what might be considered a good area.

The way I see it is 12.5 to 11.5 is the area I like to be in. If its higher than 12.5 "I" would consider it a bit lean. If Its lower than 11.5 it might be considered a bit rich in the fuel mix.

Being this AFR was in the 10's It can be leaned out a bit thus making some horsepower.

Granted there are a ton of other factors that are in play. Also I just using these numbers to ballbark a bit.

+1. I updated mine in September and didn't feel any difference. 420whp with 18% percent drive train lose brings it to 500hp.

So the new software brings 420whp 480wtq ?? is that about the same number for ECU tune from LET, Kleemann, Renntech, PC ??
If so, I better call my dealer here !

I think it should be said these gains are purely an observation. No one yet knows outside of MBZ if the update adds power. It just the last to MBZ that cam in for dynoing had this update and both put down higher than expected dyno numbers.

Would it be recommended to have this update done and THEN get a tune? (for those of us planning to get one)

who will be the guinea pig to do a pre and post dealer flash dyno?

this would be the only way I'd trust doing this. The load limited update didn't aspire too much confidence regarding MBUSA's "improvements"

No Info on this end

I took my 06 in for service B and tranny service at RBM of Atlanta and was hoping i could ****** some more power through the update referenced here but the gentleman i spoke to claimed there's no update available for the car. Has anyone in Atlanta got more info on this software update or are our dealers out here just not so well informed....but ah well at least they are getting my bosch IC pump replaced so that'll do i guess
