![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Some time back there was a post on this forum saying the latest ECU software increased horsepower for the E55. I always tell the dealer not to reflash the ECU because of the problems with horsepower loss that I (and others) experienced a few years ago. Has it been confirmed that the latest reflash increases horsepower? I will be taking my car in for service in a few weeks and I would like to know if I should ask for the reflash.
Thanks.
Thanks.

definitely not confirmed, only coincidental reports. do not let them flash if you're happy with your current file!

I personally wouldn't trust my dealer but if they say they do have an updated ECU program, I would definitely get a dyno run in and save your current file as a back up and then do a post dyno run (on the same dyno).

It depends on who did your tune. If you get an update (which I have always been a proponent of), it will erase your tune so you will need to have your file redone. Assuming you got your tune back in '04 and haven't allowed MB to flash it since, I'd say you may be in crap. Contact your vendor and see what a "new" tune will cost you since the ECU updates have changed the mapping.

According to my guy they did install the updated ecu flash on my car when I had it in a few months ago and when tested on the dyno my car put down 420/480 completely stock which was supposedly really good, but I cannot confirm what I gained because I did not have a baseline to compare.

Thanks
Thanks for info. My car has been running very strong at 38,000 miles (obviously I don't put many miles on it each year) and I hate to screw up a good thing unless the new software has been confirmed as the way to go. Looks like I will stay the course.
