Private Label MFG H/E and Headers
Just installed Private Label's Heat exchanger and shorty headers. First off, i want to mention that the welds and build quality of the header was amazing. Can be comparable to Renntech, for sure. The shorty headers fit perfectly into place. Just dropped the oem exhaust and unbolted/install the new headers. The heat exchanger was exactly as described. Didn't require any type of modification to get it fitted. Bolts right on to the factory bumper rail and is keeping my car nice and cool for the summer time. Thanks, Kenny @ PLM mfg! if interested shoot him an email: hondapartsales@gmail.com
My cars baseline on a mustang dyno was 392whp/441wtq. Just bolting on the header, h/e, and 168mm pulley i was already at 438whp/499wtq. Increase of +46hp and +58wtq.
After a custom tune the numbers jumped to 470whp/539wtq. I am very happy with my little setup. I can't believe it took me a year to pull the trigger for these mods.
EDIT*** Here are the dyno sheets
My baseline dyno: 392whp 441wtq
With just the headers installed: 415whp 460wtq
With the headers, 168mm pulley, h/e, and tune: 470whp 539wtq

Wow congrats!!! You really improved your numbers big time! Is the power unbelievably more noticeable now and at the top end? Also, you care to share a clip of how your car sounds now with the headers if there is any change?

You're right, they look identical. Does anyone know if RT makes their parts in-house in FL, or do they have product sourced from overseas? If the latter, these might be the exact same header, if PLM sources from the same manufacturer.

Nice gains
Looks good, nice numbers.
Did you tune and dyno with the 180 pulley?
I would like to know the difference between pulleys.
I have a 168 Renntech in the garage and I am just waiting for some longtube headers before installing.

Yea, dyno/tuned with the 180mm is +23 wtq & +5whp....i am much MUCH more satisfied with the 180mm. Dyno sheets will be uploaded tomorrow to show the difference in power curves

I hear there's a beastly E55 cruising 4#1 ;-)
I knew the 180 was going to put a kool aid smile on your face. Time for some meth for that extra 30 horse!!

I bought a PLM heat exchanger which fit perfectly. It was a great value.
Now there shorties are listed at $3,995.....that is a ludicrously high price for an off label set of headers. It does say OBO on their Ebay listing. $1,500-$1,800 would definitely be more enticing.
I too am interested in a sound clip.
Every header type seems to have different drone's

Interesting. From some posts on the forums here, I would have expected more of a gain with a 12mm increase in pulley size. Anyway, nice overall work and gains which wake the car up much more from stock!

Brabus K8 E55 05
When I had:
1- Brabus pulley that came with the car (I don't know the exact size but for sure around 168 - 175mm)
2- Kleemann header
3- K&N Filter
4- Fluid Motor Union tune
I had 498 whp.
So with you having 180mm, supposing that PLM header will give close or the same hp as Kleemann header, you should have more whp than I did. better than that.

Can any of you share your opinions of the PLM vs. the Fluid Motor Union and any other major H/E contender for our cars right now? And is there still a H/E with the Spearco core?
