Private Label Header and Heat Exchager Installation

I recently installed heat exchanger and shorty headers from Private Label MFG. My buddy and i compared my Private Label headers to the Renntech
header on his car and we found the Private Label header to have much nicer welds and a very comparable build.
The installation was problem free as if the factory had built them theirselves.
I was very surprise to find that the heat exchanger and all its hardware were perfectly matched and kept the car running at such cool temperatures.

The cars first time on the dynojet with only the h/e, 172mm pulley and tune pulled an amazing 467whp/534wtq.
After bolting on the shorty headers the numbers changed by +31whp/+10wtq finishing at 498whp and 543wtq in temperatues of 91 degrees and 68% humidity.
I am extremely pleased with my results and looking forward to my next mod with a custom tune.

Special thanks to:
Kenny @ PLM: hondapartsales@gmail.com
Justin Falla: 172mm pulley
ChicagoX, Wayne: Tune
Jr Davis and Chris Tai: Professional installation
Gary @ Speed Injected: dynojet services

Nice numbers. Those headers look great! I am no expert, but it looks like you are running somewhat lean. Did you have it retuned after the headers were installed?

you may want to run meth or get a tune, as it appears you're running lean. Great for power, bad for pistons...

Hey Mike, why would you say it appears to be running lean?

Do these headers mate to the stock exhaust? Thumbs up on your numbers!

Brabus K8 E55 05
question:

How do you sense the heat compared to the stock system ( headers and pulleys)?

On my car after installing the Kleemann headers wd ceramic coat, 82mm TB, Thermal Spacers (no original gaskets included here), PLM HE + Johnson 30cm IC pump, and I have Brabus K8 pulleys ( 168 - 175 mm) I can sense more heat and I can not solve this issue, the fan is on most of the time and even inside the car I can feel heat if I did not start AC.

The temperature on the gauge of the car inside the instrument cluster is normal but the sense of the heat is more than before and fan most of the time is on.

Any one can help?

From what I can tell, your afrs don't go below 13 until 6200rpm. That is pretty lean. A new tune will take care of that though.

I agree on a new tune modification. A 3rd or 4th gear pull right in the meat of the power band (3500-5500rpm) would be running fairly lean, and could be dangerous when combined with high IAT's. AFR in the 12.5-13.5 range on a FI motor is generally considered the safe zone.

for a boosted car on pump gas, you want to run 12.0:1 to 12.5:1. you want to be close to the dotted line on the lower graph. You're close to 14:1 at 5200 rpm. What this causes is really high EGT and head temps. It's even more critical if you run increased boost over stock. Have you noticed any pinging? it's probably going to be hard to hear with headers installed.

What up Dan the Man! The numbers he put down with shorties got me thinking. Is it really worth going with long tubes and all the work that comes with installation?

Gas is always cheaper than valves and pistons
