PLEASE help with my SL65 Slit rims!!!
Hi Guys,
After a LONG and hard wait to find some amg style iv 2pcs rims I finally did, but now when Ive put them on the rears are rubbing!
I have 295/35/19 on rear, on a 10.5 inch rim.
Car is lowered by links, and I know many people have put on 19s with no problems at all, I guess the only thing that it could be is the offset..
Are these rims avaible in different sizes/offsets? Lots of people on this forum have simply bolted on AMG split rims with no problem so Im left scratching my head!
(I even got my badges sprayed to gunmetal to match!! )
here are some pics, the front rims are on the back now as I got a flat on my stocks, and no point to get a new tyre for it!!
Please help on with any advice...
Thanks!!

I believe the SL wheels were available in two rear widths. The 10.5's were special order and more rare. Probably a combo of offset, rim width and the 295 tire profile.
Did the rubbing cause a flat? Have you tried rolling the fenders? A smaller rear tire MAY help, but less that 285 on a 10.5"rim is crazy IMHO.
Good luck and I hope you get it worked out because they look sick

like worth said it is prob a combo of things but the tire might be a little too large as you are 1.5-2" taller than the stock 265 35 18, might need to go with a lower profile tire, a 30 series would save you an inch over all in height.

Factory rears are 25.3 inches tall. Your new rears are 27.1 inches tall. So thats is almost 2 inches too tall. You need to go with 285/30/19 which is 25.7 inches tall.

i would say go 285/30/19 tire and maybe role the fender a bit just to clear it even more. Im guessing the tire is to wide on a 19in rim and it being lowered also definitly is causing all your issues. When the car is in raised position is it rubbing?

Guys thanks for te replys
Okay so ATM I have the fronts 255/35/19 on the rear with no problems at all.
Is it suicide to keep these for the rears and go 225 on the front?
It still rubs when car is raised too, Im thinking it must be because of the abnormal offset.
Rolling fenders..big job or not? does it make the car look different in anyway?
thanks again...

ok so I have just found out that the rims are the Wider option (rare) type with a 10.5 width, but I dont wannt do any work on the fenders...
Guys what you opinion on using 255's on the rears and 225's on the front?
Would the ride/performance be okay or not?
thanks again

The advice above telling you you'd be crazy to go less than 285 on a 10.5 is good advice.

Never come across a 10.5" wide AMG wheel..
Check the part number/et/offset on the alloys and come back to us.
Mine are;
Front alloy wheels: 19x8.5" ET30
Wheel part number: AMG B66031360
Additional alloy part number: A2114001202
Rear alloy wheels: 19x9.5" ET31
Wheel part number: AMG B66031361
Additional alloy part number: A2114001402

I think he's talking about putting his front rim on the rear axle..??? Why would you ever want 225 on the front though...?? That's f'in TINY...I guess not compared to stock, but I pulled those quick after I got mine...
Are they rubbing the inside or outside of the fender..??

Simple.....
Friend, you have the wrong wheels. Those are designed for R230, not the W211. The fronts are not a problem, but the rears and simply too wide, the wrong offset, and no amount of tire changing, fender bashing (well, maybe some cutting and torching) or voodoo is going to change that.
Now, that being said, given enough time and money, in this world, there are very few things you cannot make "work". I suppose you could try to shave them to a higher offset, but they still may not work. You're going to need someone who absolutely knows what they're doing, and it's still a bit of "black art". If it were me, I would resell them to an SL or CLS guy and move on to something that was the dead correct fitment for my car from the git. If they're going on a 55, then this ain't something to fool around with. The more you mess with MB cars, the more you will find you just absolutely need the right stuff to make it "work". Good luck in your quest....

keep the rear rims you have and put on 285/30s and that should fix the problem like the others have been trying to tell you.

Another option is to swap with an existing SL.
I would imagine you could find a member here with an SL all too eager to swap his 9.5's for your 10.5's....given the rarity of these factory option wheels.
Run those with a 285/30 and VOILA, problem solved.

That is....
am excellent idea. Good winner for both folks. You are just beating your head against the wall trying to get those 10/5's to work. This would help you and make someone else happy too.

I have OEM SL65 wheels and with the OEM 285 Bridgestone RE050a I still rub in certain situations. You need do either do a narrower 285 or just go with a 275.
