2003-2006 E55 Stock Ride Height Measurments

Could those of you with an E55 and tape measure post your stock ride height on stock wheels, (2003-2006) Ground to fender? (In comfort mode)

We did the mesurement before lowering links, and after 100 notes to get it right, can remember which set was stock

I think it was:

26.4" Front (both sides even)
25.7" Rear (even)

I'd like to verify this, and also see what others have.

Has any determined the stock ride height? I took mine in for service and asked them to lower the car. They ended up RASING the car without asking me and now the rears are even higher than the fronts!

Also, is there a ride height difference between Comfort, Sport I, Sport II? Thanks!

I am confused with my Airmatic suspension. I was driving around this evening in my E55. Thoroughly enjoying myself. The power and handling were great! I even had the Airmatic in Comfort mode....

I park at Walgreens to get some supplies. When I return to my car I notice that it looks like the rear is a bit high. -Jacked up like a hot rod. I disregard it and get in the car to drive home which is about 5 blocks. When I park in my garage and lock the door. I hear a hissing sound. My wife looks at me and says, "why is the car sinking?" I look over at the front suspension and it's lowering itself. But it looks like it lowered itself to the correct ride height. I wasn't driving around with in in "lift" mode. Why would the car suddenly lower itself when I got home. I was driving through my neighborhood at about 5 mph for 2 block before I parked. Very strange.

I know the front of my car usually lowers itself after i park it.. I believe it does this to level out the car? Anyways pretty common for the suspension to adjust after parking.

If your car "lowers" when you park it, that is not normal, that is a sign of things to come.
These cars can not be driven when the Airmatic goes out, so be prepared.

It's normal. When the two of you got out of the car the ride height increased because it's no longer carrying around your and your wife's weight. The hissing is the suspension lowering itself by releasing air. The owners manual says the car may do it more or less randomly, so don't get freaked out by it.

I gave up on fully understanding when the airmatic lowers and raises.
Do our cars really change the ride height when you cycle through comfort , sport I and Sport II modes (with the car on normal ride height/not raised) because i've never seen mine do it while watching from the outside.
I have noticed though that a few times when left parked in Sport I and the temp changes from warm to cool, the front will sit lower than normal... what gives?

The owners manual gives some information on how the ride heights differ between the different modes. Perhaps the ride height only changes if the car is moving?

Temperature changes are going to affect the air pressure in the airmatic struts, just like temperature changes affect tire pressure. Can't say I've ever noticed the car sagging when a cold front came through, but haven't paid attention either. Remember pv=nrt from high school physics?

I agree with you.. it could be a sign of the air pump failing, or shocks leaking air.

but I had all 4 shocks and pump replaced under warranty last year.. and the car still sits lower if I dont drive it for a day or two.

My car is lowered a bit, but it would do it when it was stock too.

Quick question...how much can I lower my car without it rubbing the fenders if I have these specs:

Front: 18x9, 255/35/18, +32
Rear: 18x10, 285/35/18, +35

Tires are Continental Extreme Contact DW

Thanks
