E55 82MM TB Install DYI! and some other goodies.

It took some time, and we ran into a few problems, but eventually we finished the project! One tip, color code everything you disconnect! Don't want to cross radiator hoses with HE hoses. HAHAHA!

Thanks to Shardul and Scott (AUS-E55) and KuaveSTi (my Cousin), and thanks to Brooke (Exotic-Metal) for the powder Coated surge tanks!

Modify the Airbox?
It was previously modified by Exotic-Metal. On my car we had to pull the clips off of the intake to push it back in order for the CF to fit. Notice the front Carbon Fiber cover doesn't properly sit.

Good job guys, One thing I did that i thought was much simpler was to cut and rewire the harnnes rather than repining it. But cool to see guys getting there hands dirty.

Nice job!!
Look like you welded the adapter plate on the SC nose piece, right? And did you use the MB 82 mm tb or you used the Audi unit? Thanks in advance.

They didn't weld anything, it looks like they used the correct supercharger snout for the 82mm TB.

Y'all do realize that the TB and Snout are AMG Factory parts?

I'm sorry for being ignorant about the AMG stuff. But if it is "AMG factory parts" they wouldn't have to switch the wires right?

To the OP, which wires did you have to switch? Thanks in advance.

great job,

i want to ask you about the small filter. what it is for ?

&
i noticed there is a difference in the S/C inlet between my stock and the 78/80 OEM, i don't have the seconed hole in the 9th picture, the stock one had two, but the 78/80 doesn't has it (where your stock has the black rubber with red inside), so i don't know where to put the black pipe that is comming from both sides into it.

what its job ? is it harm just to keep it there not pluged ?

S55 is pinned different than the E55 at the throttle body.

My 82mm TB has an AMG Sticker and Part number, same for my Supercharger snout.

Can I use the stock gasket for the TB housing between TB housing and S/C? I have Thermal Spacer and I want to take it out because it is moving and more pressure or more pulling I can notice it is moving up and once time it caused a leak which rises the idle rpm to 1000 - 1200 while on P or N and when you push gas on those modes, it goes 2000 - 3000 and it stays their until I shift to D.

I am getting phenolic just like yours soon. RPM stays around 2000 - 3000 only when there is a leak when you push the accelerator on neutral or parking mode. But, it stopped now since I think no more leak but if this spacer moved because of pulling, the RPM stuck their as I explained.

I had to switch 1 and4, and 5 and 6. If i had to do it again, the switch would take me no longer than 5minutes.

The old part has the black plug with the red inside of it. On the new Inlet, we just capped the plug that you see.

if it helps, I used the old gasket. I didnt realize the new gasket was sitting in the front seat! So i guess its safe to say yes, you can use the old one. Although we did change the gaskets under the SC and from the Surge tanks to the SC.
