My new rotors came in with the factory gray sealant all over them.. Anyone have any tips on cleaning them up? Wet sand and caliper paint on the hat?

some paint thinner should do the job.
you can even put them on with the coating, it will come off within a second of braking.

Gotcha.. Just wanted to see if anyone did anything to improve the appearance of them before installing. That gray is pretty bland. Haha.

The hat is bound to rust quickly and become a sore spot. I know when my time comes I am going to paint the new rotor caps black with G2 liquid caliper paint. I have had good success with this method on previous rides, with it looking great and lastly a decent amount of time, when done right.

That's why I went with R1concepts rotors. They already come with the hub powder coated black
Evosport offers 2-piece units front & rear with aluminum hats and properly drilled and slotted rotors (right and left rotation). Also saves about 30# of unsprung weight and rotational mass. A bit expensive, but really good results. It's nice to know you can get out of trouble faster than you got into it.
I have always painted my rotor either with a primer gray paint or a silver. I hate the look of seeing rusty rotors, through the wheels. The key to them looking good is preparation. I took a wire brush, and clean off the old primer that comes from the factory. Re-primed them, then paint them that way, the painting surface will resist rust for a very long time. They key is to use a heat resistant paint, because your rotors can get really hot.

Personally I like the G2 paint. It comes with a hardener you add to the paint. It dries rock solid, very similar to powdercoat. I have used it on all kinds of car parts and am always happy with the results and ease of use.
