Finally a resolution with my tuning…HALLELUJAH!
So as some of you know I have been struggling with a lean condition above 5000 rpm’s for the last few months. It has been very frustrating, adding mods and spending a nice chunk of change only to be shut down on the dyno while trying to tune. Two different tuners tried, and failed, to make my car safe.
Thanks to some helpful info here, as well as some insight from Jeremy during his first attempt to tune my car, the issue is now resolved! I guess the third time was the charm…lol.
Between the first tuning attempt and the second the car was fully diagnosed and inspected for leaks or any issues that may have caused the lean condition. Nothing was found to be out of the ordinary. I even changed the plugs and had the injectors cleaned. The lean condition was present on the baseline dyno as well (before I did any mods), however it was not significant. Adding the 178mm pulley really highlighted (and intensified) the problem. It was clear that the car was simply not getting enough fuel.
While I am not one to throw parts at a problem to see if it helps, it was obvious that the fuel pump/filter assemblies needed to be replaced. So I bit the bullet and replaced both the sending unit/filters and the fuel pump assembly located under the rear seats on top of the tank (Mercedes recommends replacing both at the same time). Those were in fact the culprits and the lean condition is gone!
I now have a rock solid, safe tune on my car. THANK YOU JEREMY!!!!
The car is so strong now and pulls like a train. I don’t want to post a graph or focus on dyno numbers because well, there only numbers. Bottom line is that I gained a solid 75-80 whp and a shiit ton of torque. Not to mention the car drives flawlessly with a fantastic power delivery and borderline scary acceleration.
Thanks for letting me share and rant - I am so relieved to have this matter resolved. I am no longer afraid to beat up on my car! I know a few local BMW’s and P-cars that are in trouble nowJ.
I know I am not the first, nor will I be the last, to say that Jeremy is the KING! His skill, patience, experience and customer service are remarkable. If you are in the market for a tune, you cannot go wrong with OE Tuning!
And thank you to the members here for their advise, support and information…YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!
See Ya at the track!
BTW Here are my current mods for those interested:
178MM RennTech Pulley, Hyveon Shorty Headers, Upgraded HE, Johnson Pump and Split Cooling Circuit.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I cannot stress enough how relieved I am and how happy I am with Jeremy's work.
Interestingly we talked about the fueling issues a lot and he said he is starting to see more and more of this same issue. It is like the components in the tank have a five year shelf life...then problems. Weird.
So be careful guys, you don't want to run out of fuel or....as we used to say during my Mazda days...Zoom-Zoom-Boom!

I'm going to do this since I just got pullley/tune and have an 03 with 60K. Looking at the ewa net parts photo, I don''t see a filter. Is that part of the sending unit? Would it be correct to say I need:
1. Fuel pump (delivery unit) 2114701794 $340 at parts.com, and
2. Fuel sender (delivery unit) 2114702494 $335 at parts.com
Anything else recommended while a person is back there operating on it?

The filter is very strange. There are actually two in the one unit and they are small packets, kind of like those silica gel packs that gets sent with new electronics. I guess the fuel passes through them and removes any particles and blocks the big stuff.
Good luck! Anyone with a car that has a build date of fives years, or 60k plus miles should consider this routine maintenance.
Not sure where you got those part numbers but here are the correct updated ones according to EPC.net
Two sending/filter/pump units:
A211 470 4994
A211 470 4594
Seals:
A211 417 0579

I would to see the dyno not so much for the power numbers but the fuel curve. If you still don't want to post it please e-mail it to me. thogan7242@gmail.com I am on the fence for getting a tune from Jermey so the data will really help me.

I'm glad you got things ironed out. Was the pump replaced after the second failed attempt at tuning? If so you can't really blame the tuners for having a tough time, whoever they are.

Never meant to blame the tuners. Sorry if it came out that way. Both were helpful trying to diagnose the issue, Jeremy just happened to have the resources to expedite solving the problem.
