Caliper Painting Decal Question

Hey guys, I was going to have my calipers painted next week and just have a question or two for the shop painting them, so anyone with experience in this please chime in

Is there a certain type of vinyl that anybody is using that withstands the heat put off by the calipers or can any sign shop cut these for me and I'll be ok. Or does the clear coat just protect it ok?

The shop that is going to paint these has concerns that the heat might ruin the decal after applied and unfortunately won't guarantee the work if they do deform or peel or shrink or whatever.

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated TIA

I have never had an issue with heat. Two ways to do this. A few coats of clear will protect it nicely. Several coats of clear will actually pick up the edges of the decal and gives it an engraved look-see pic. Pretty hot looking. The clear still protects the edges, just no longer looks flat. I have done it both ways. Again, never a heat issue.

fwiw, you might want to check these (price seems right) https://mbworld.org/forums/4213583-post508.html

I'd clear coat over them, too.

Thank you sir! Ya those look sick! Did you paint those personally? How many coats of clear did you spray?

That is a good price for those, too bad I want to mimic my brakes like the ones Kleemann sells That's why this is now becoming such a PITA. I never thought it would be a big deal, now I'm considering just scraping the whole idea and getting an LSD

Yes, on this one about 6 coats of clear.

Below was when it was red, only 3 coats of clear.

Be sure to measure the size of your AMG decals. I damn near ordered the ones on the site before I noticed the ones offered are only 3" x 0.25". Those are too small for a W211 caliper (not sure what model those fit).

I'm asking the eBay seller if they can make a 4" x 0.375" which are the correct size for the E55/63.

I can cut any kind of decal that you need, curved, skewed ect guys. Just send a PM. I've even got Carbon Fiber Di-Noc vinyl.....that might look pretty sharp.

Here's a thread on some current client jobs and some fun stuff:
