Reason I ask, is because I had some Meisterschaft's on my old 63. I sold them to someone in exchange for their factory 55 exhaust. After installation, it never sounded quite as loud as the factory 63 system, almost like there was more sound deadening material in the 55's components.
So did AMG engineers open up the flow of exhaust a bit, to allow that naturally aspirated motor to breathe better/sound better?

Yes, the 63 has more of a free flow design and less sound deadening material (I think none at all)

Yes, they actually say it's not even worth changing the E63 stock mufflers out except for sound. Very free flowing.

The 63's are slower so they had to try to free up some power with a less restrictive exhaust. I don't think it helped much.

Not to threadjack, but I do have a question.

I recently acquired CLS 55 mufflers and tips and are having them installed on my CLS 500. I did this for the look, but I was told to expect a throatier sound and possibly faster response.

Is that correct?
