Crank pulley weight

guys,

i have a question,

will there be any diffrence in gains if the crank pulley weight was less ?

for example,

180mm 6kg

180mm 6.5kg.

will there be some power loss due to hevier pulley ?

thanks in advance

Whatever we're tuning!
The power will be reached earlier with the lighter rotational weight. Earlier in the powerband.

I know nothing- however.. Underdrive pullies on NA cars yeild a very small performace gain. There is a loss with all rotational mass. Therefore, they sell smaller lighter pullies to get back this power.

So, any pulley will cost some power, based on the weight, however once inertia is established, I assume the loss would be less.

So the anwer is yes, but I can not imagine it would be much

but if the aftermarket pullies are heavier then the stock ones, say the deffirence between stock and aftermarket are more the 0.5kg or 1lb. will it affect our internal bearings ? compairing to flywheel weight ?

i am concerned because the one installed on my car is one locally made and it is heaveir than ASP pulley by about 300 gram.

When you think about the massive rotational weight in the engine and the components connected to it, you will see how insignificant a pound or two really is. The crankshaft shlould weigh in the neighborhood of 45 pounds, the pistons/rods a good 30 pounds, torque converter is 30-40 pounds, plus the front mounted accessories and the massive HP it takes to spin the blower. IMO the wight advantage of a lighter pulley isn't even worth thinking about. The best way to make a true difference is for someone to come out with a 9.5" torque converter that will weigh considerably less than the stocker.
