down to 2 cars right now....'06 e55 and '07 e63. Cant decide what to do!

The decision making is getting closer.

'06 e55. CPO. 27k miles. Pewter. Loaded.

http://www.autofind.com/dealer/detai...F76J46A922555/

or

'07 e63. CPO. 17k miles. Silver. Loaded.

http://www.isringhausen.com/Inventor...VehicleID/3152

I can get the '06 out the door CPO at $41k. The '07 is closer to $53k.

I know there are cheaper cars out there, but I want LOW mileage and CPO.

My heart says e63 for the looks, updates, 7 speed tranny, etc. And I am not a modder, racer or anything. Just stock.

But, not sure the '07 is worth $12k or so more.

All thoughts much appreciated.

I'd say E63 if you're not looking to mod it.

Better resale. Better exhaust note. More updates.

Btw...you're a puss for not modding it.

Jk. Good luck with what ever you decide.

Agree with all of the above. The E63 is a wonderful machine, if you're not planning performance mods. Almost everything about it is more refined over the E55, but we all know what a modded E55 will do to an E63, so there's that....

But if you're a stock guy....get the 63 and enjoy her.

As everyone before me mentioned.... if you think you'll ever consider modding or needing extra power out of this car, then you should go with the E55. It's incredibly more powerful when modded and mods are much cheaper than on the E63 - not to mention gains are a LOT more as well. However, if you, like you said earlier, are not into modding, then I think the E63 is a better choice especially for the reasons you mentioned in your post.

PS: both cars are great and you really can't go wrong either way

Thanks for all your thoughts so far.

What about differences in the way the two cars handle, insofar as everyday driving? From what I have read, it sounds like the e63 handles a bit better too (according to car mags, not the e55 v. e63 forum debates). Curious whether its another factor to consider in favor of the e63.

They are both incredibly comfortable boats

If handling is a concern I wouldn't look at either of these cars lol.

RE: Down to 2 Cars

I'd get the E63, it is a tremendous car that will put a smile in your face every time you drive it. Silver is IMHO is the best W211 color, this one is nicely equipped, and has very low mileage.

I would however insist that the dealer include an additional 2 year Mercedes ELW warranty beyond the year of CPO warranty, even if you end up paying a bit more. That warranty plus the CPO will keep you covered for 3 years beyond the expiration of the base warranty. I have both CPO and 2 year ELW on my E63, and am covered through 2013, it doesn't get much better than that.

It is end of Summer, they are probably motivated to move the E63; I'd work the best deal you can to include the 2 year ELW warranty.

My car will bite a corner a lot harder than I'd ever thought. Yet still pretty compliant in all situations. It will never be a Porsche, but it's a little bit more capable in a turn than a 55. I think the average retail listing from '06 to '07 is over $10K so the difference is about normal. Good luck either way..!!

It's a done deal, if your not looking to drag race or heavily mod it, it's 63 all the way. You'll regret it if you don't. Plus the 63 name is gonna be around for years to come apparently.

Great sound, plenty of power and much better handling. 63 FTW!

See if they can knock some more cash off the 63. Worth a shot.

Haters crazy
IMO...

E55... Better for performance modding, as there are a lot more mods available. The SC delivers a lot more torque than the NA 6.2 v8... hence making it a veryyyyy fun car!

E63... Updated exterior, probably more realiable than the 5.5 sc (belts breaking, sc clutch etc) nicer sounding exhaust, looks better (you can always add bumpers to e55) better resale. Silver you cant lose! Pewter you either like it or you dont.

Ive driven a e63, didnt like it, hence made the desicion to get the 06 e55 myself... But drive them both! See how you feel.

I am on my second E63 and silver looks good, just my $.02. It's a smooth ride with decent acceleration. The many updates over the 06 E55 are significant. Forget about the stereo and the navi in the E63 and get something else asap. The car you have picked out with 17K miles and CPO sounds good, for another 4 grand the warranty will be maxed out and then well, no worries....

I have both, go e63 for all the above reasons. Kick in a little more and get an 08 with additional CPO coverage.

E63 all the way, according to your preferences. Get the newer car, no modding, amazing exhaust note. The 07 is worth $12k more especially if you like the color and low miles. Have fun!

BTW according to the seller, that '07 qualifies for 2.99% on 66 months. That's a badass deal for a used car loan, if you plan to finance.

I would go with the 63 all the way like others have said especially since you are not going to be doing any modding. The 63 has all the updated looks and whatnot, but more importantly silver is way better looking than pewter lol

Like everyone above me has already stated......

-55 if you plan on doing mods and have the itch to go faster and faster. It is also the most mod friendly.

-63 if you plan on doing light mods and just cruising overall.

Either way you can't go wrong. Good luck with your choice! You'll pick the right one regardless

I love all the input about modding or not but did we not notice the colors (I know a few did)

Pewter = NO

63.
