How to remove "Y" snorkel from intake
I am busy doing some painting under the hood and am having a time removing the "Y" rubber snorkel from the throttle body which is attached to the intake housing. There is a metal fastener around the snorkel and intake housing but dont want to get to aggressive with it incase it breaks.
Any ideas, does that metal fastener just clip off some how

there is a special tool -- but i just use pliers or wire snips --- just squeeze the clip together and twist up to unbuckle it -- it will take a few tries until you get the hang of it -- reinstall is the same but even trickier without the proper tool.

If all you're trying to do is remove the "Y" inlet from the throttle body, there are two plastic clips holding it in place. Just pinch in the arms (top and bottom) on the Y at the TB and slide the Y inlet off.

The quickest way is to remove the airboxes and rubber "Y" as one piece. Seriously, 30-90 seconds for an experienced tech. 4 minutes tops for a cautious first timer.
1. Pull the snorkels off the airboxes (pull toward the front of the car)
2. Lift up on the front of the airbox(passenger side first). They are held on with ball and spring clips which will release when you pull up.
3. Passenger airbox should be loose, do the same to driver's side airbox.
4. You now need to pull off the crankcase breather hose from the rubber "Y" on the bottom of the driver's side.
5. Now pinch the clips komp55 referred to. There is one on top on throttle body(visible) and one underneath(non visible).
6. Remove entire assembly together.
Have a beer!

the metal clamps that secure the rubber Y to the upper portion of the air box are one time use only. you can just but some regular screw clamps from home depot once you remove the factory ones
