Ball Joints Bad/Thrust Arm!
I was having a "creak" sound at low speed turning and a "knock" sound during low speed freeway type driving.
MB Buena Park verified lower ball joints and recommended the "upgraded" thrust arm joints that have a solid rubber type joint and the arm is "thicker".
Although expensive......the change was well worth the new handling prowess. I assume the E55 had a different thrust arm and chassis ears than the E63.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

Then on the freeway, at low and creeping speeds I could hear a "knock" sound as I accelerated or hit the brakes. So I assumed the brake calipers were loose, shocks were loose or the ball joints has play. I did have a slight vibration and had the wheels "RoadForced" and it really helped but there was always a hint of "something" at high speed.
The car is 5 years old but only has 20,000 and I would never think the ball joint would have that much play. One thing for sure, it doesnt "roll" as much in turns and the steering is way more precise and no more wandering on the freeway.
